It's the style of his writing that does me. It seems almost sixth form of that makes sense. Great story, poorly told (in my opinion).

Oh sorry I misunderstood in that case. I meant in general rather than a specific book

I've just started enjoying audio books...suddenly got the bright idea that it would be perfect for when I did my knitting in the evenings.:dbgrtmb:

I can always find time Mike ,even a snatched 5 minutes with a cup of coffee, normally it's in the evenings when I finally sit down about 9 pm. We hardly watch any TV, I go to bed around 12:30 - 1am....so this is MY precious time to do what I want.:recliner:

I need a new book series; I've gone through all the Sharpe books, Clive Cusslers enormous repertoire, also the Aubrey-Maturin series, Bosch and the spin off Mickey Haller books and now need something new.

            Any ideas?

Not as sophisticated as Clive and more on the police procedural but the Peter Robinson books are an easy read without being "cozy". Most take place in England. I read most of them in chronological order of publication.
