My old girl was drinking like an alcoholic at a free bar, and although a cracker of a car, it was getting on for fourteen years old and needing things that fourteen year old cars need. It was a matter of time before one of those needs bankrupted me (windscreen wiper mechanism problem showing its head likely to be the first!), so that coupled with the horrendous road tax for it and me being a lot less able to lie under cars than I used to be (and a whole host of other things domestically) led us to change.

I didn't stray far from the stable however...





It is a 2-litre diesel, Euro 6 and ULEZ compliant and drinks a fraction of the fuel that the other one did.

 

Automatic, with flappy paddles should I feel the need to change gears myself (not likely to happen often, as I am a lazy so and so nowadays..... )

We went right round the houses, including new cars, but by the time we were getting something with a decent spec we were paying the same or more than we are paying for this one. I looked at electric, plug-in hybrids and all sorts, but they were either too expensive or too risky one way or another. In the end, we were sitting looking at a Fiat Tipo and a Dacia thing and I just thoguth enough was enough - if you are paying for the thing for the next four years, you may as well like it! At two and a half years old and 19k miles, it is as near to new as you could ask for.

PS, nothing against Fiat Tipos or Dacias by the way, they are just not my thing.

Thank you @ARMANDII, and @CanadianLori - I got a wee cruise out, but seemed to get stuck in traffic wherever we went as there are roadworks pretty much all around us.

This one runs on the devils juice @Sheal - diesel :hateshocked: The fact that it has more filtration than you can shake a stick at, and also has NOX abatement completely escapes a lot of folks; truthfully, I think it boils down to the elites not wanting us to have cars at all.
