You're right there Upsydaisy. I've got three, one for solids and two for liquids, pumped from one to the other two.

Not quite @ARMANDII. The man returned to the island just before the new legislation was introduced. Being of no fixed address he couldn't find anywhere to stay so handed himself into police headquarters who promptly arrested him. I'll keep you posted should I hear anymore.

The first two cases have been confirmed on the island today.

Does anyone remember Izal? My granddad used to call it government issue. The only way to use it was to screw it up first so it didn't tear you to pieces. Great tracing paper though. :heehee:

I don't know whether this just applies to Scotland but the Co-op are taking on 5000 extra staff. They say that the problem is not the lack of supplies, but getting them to their shops fast enough to replace what has been bought and hoarded.

We used to call it grease proof paper. "Medicated with Izal Germicide".

Most of the supermarkets are taking on thousands of staff to supplement their delivery services.

All this additional handwashing (done every time after handling post, front door, front gate, getting something from car (which I've touched when out before getting back home for a good scrub up,), etc. has started to dry out my hands and make them sore. Using the proper alcohol based sanitiser gel seems to affect them most. Now having to use moisturiser.

Many years ago I read a money saving tip on MSE that diluted cheap bath gel (Tesco Value) was a fraction of the price of even the cheapest liquid soap and had virtually the same ingredients, but may be different now and would need re-checking to confirm it's still as effective as liquid soap.

This is still on the shelves opposite empty spaces where the liquid soap was, and might be useful if nothing else (including bars of soap and washing up liquid, allthough the latter may also have been stripped) is available.

          Latest update from Sainsbury's:-

"Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, all our supermarkets will dedicate 8am - 9am to serving elderly, disabled and vulnerable customers, as well as NHS and Social Care workers. They will just need to show us their pass or ID when they visit. Some of you fed back that you couldn’t find what you wanted during that hour, so we will try our best to have essential items on shelf for these customers. We will be working to keep our shelves well stocked and would encourage customers to arrive throughout the hour to prevent queues forming and to help everyone keep a safe distance."

The showing of ID will help as when I tried the supermarket yesterday at the 'over 70's' time it was full of younger people.

I have a product called Diprobase that I use for moisturising my skin (have had to use it for years) and that helps a lot. I think it is about £7 or £8 for a large 500gm pump dispenser and some suppliers do it free post - others charge a lot.

Hello from West Mayo offshore, and yes but still way below other countries thankfully.
We have a scattered family and yesterday learned of a death in Germany of one of them from covid. Shattering. BC Canada is in lockdown and India is unspeakable ; we also have extended family there
As they are stressing here in Ireland now, how fast it spreads is a lot up to us. In strict isolation here being old and immunocompromised .

We are 'social distancing' but not isolating. We're in the fortunate situation of any visitor can come into the back garden avoiding the house. We intend, if the weather is suitable, that one or two visitors can come round and we shall sit a good distance away from each other. They shall bring their own water/snack and, as they shall be sitting in a plastic garden chair I shall hose it down afterwards.

Someone I know, who doesn't have that advantage, is sitting in their front garden with cuppa and cake and chatting to passers by whilst being at least 10ft from them. :blue thumb:

:mad:Well!!:mad::mad: I’m ruddy furious! I was at work (I know that’s not idea) on Thursday evening & we were discussing the current situation & having a sensible chat about precautions & staying safe..how to deal with Mother’s Day etc the chat was very sensible, everyone was sharing ideas & I think we all learnt a few tips from each other...than Gary walked in , & started bragging about his second £500 yes £500 shop he’d done this week!! ....baring in mind one of the lads in the original chat is really struggling right now, I felt my hackles go up & knew I was going to burst, I tried to remove Gary from the conversation by turning my back on him but he wouldn’t stop he has toilet roll, pasta, squash, chips, cake, fruit, bread you name it he has it! He even has stuff piled up in his sitting room....my blood was boiling so I again moved so he wasn’t in the circle, but he didn’t stop ‘I’ve got this I’ve got that’ then said he was going to go to the supermarket on his way home to get more! I exploded at him, I told him he was a selfish ‘bar stool’ & his greed would cause suffering to others, he was soon back at me calling me some fairly unpleasant names ☹️, the rest of the boys joined in on my side & eventually he left the room. Just what is the matter with people? What is this greed all about....there’s enough for everyone, I haven’t stockpiled anything :noidea: I always have some tins of soup etc etc in the cupboard for emergencies & they remain, but that’s the only extra I have...yes the freezer is full but it always is, i buy stuff on the reduced counter all the time & freeze it I've always done that.
I feel so bad for anyone who is on a very low income, single parents, disabled, people living on just the state pension etc etc it must be so bloody frightening for them right now . I’m so struggling with the greed it’s actually starting to get me down to be honest.
Anyway enough moaning that’s not going to help us it? I will go & do something positive no point in letting the idiots of this world get to me.
I hope you are all keeping well, staying away from as many people as possible & spending time in your gardens. I will share some jokes to make you all laugh after my little moan! Xx :grphg:
