    Err, shopping.
Due to the regulations it takes a lot longer.;)

And it was bad enough before this fiasco, with all the new housing being built.

This has got to be China's biggest world export.

Well done China you have sh*t on the world big time:yay::mad::mad::mad:

But they seem to be shopping all day and all at the same time. When people worked, they didn't clog the stores up so much in the little time they had to shop. It is a puzzlement. I don't understand the mentality ... or lack thereof. Our shopping schedule has not changed.

Well I usually shop once a week, with a top up for certain items;), mid week.

Then came the panic buyers, who ripped everything off the shelves, which then it turn worries those who were shopping normally, so they started buying more.

Things settled, but now they have long queues outside supermarkets, so, me included, will be getting as much stuff as I can in my next shop because I aint a fan of queues, and diont intend going there more than I have to.

Its a vicious circle, which could have been stopped earlier if supermarkets hadn't jumped on the bandwagon and sold everything in the first few days.
We all know they love to sell as much as they can, which is why there is so much food waste even at the best of times.

Add to that the total uncertainty of how long this is going to go on and you can see why an over populated country like this is going crazy.:frown:

If people hadn't already got so much stuff stashed away, they'd now need more shopping and the queues (caused by only every other checkout opening, limiting numbets in store and maintaining 2m betwen customers) would be even bigger.

Although I normally buy my lottery ticket from the village shop to help support it , especially as it has a Post Office counter, today I started buying 'tickets' directly online to reduce contact/trips out, plus let others get on with buying essential food items.

I go along with most of this, but I think Boris has had to go along with the rest of the world, they all started this lockdown thing well before we did.
If we ever get out of this we will be at a pretty low point economically for a generation at least.

I think, and I'm more than likely wrong, that china's is the only economy that has gone up... and their cases seem to stop all of a sudden... I do love a good conspiracy!

Agree totally with your first para. Some of us got blasted for allegedly stockpiling early on when we were just adding a little extra every week and we posited the same. When the crunch came or rather the crush, we stayed home. I am deeply thankful to be with a small community supervalu who know me well .

@Loofah I don't know if you've heard the rumour that there's going to be a shortage of nails because they're made in China and most of what they had was used up to nail shut all the doors in Wuhan, but it may not be true.

It must be remembered though that households need much more supplies now that everyone is in all day every day. Providing a family of four with three meals, snacks, coffee, tea, toilet roll for a day is more than when the four people spent most of the day outside the house, eating their meals and using facilities out there.

I don't drive so have always had Tesco groceries order once a week, with perhaps a quick nip into a shop to get fresh or forgotten something. Now I must take a bus to a supermarket to buy as much as I can carry in a backpack and bags, meaning probably twice a week. Not my favourite way to reduce social contacts.

But in the end, we are all safe and doing well, we have jobs and food and the elderly have the help arranged. My Dad who is turning 80 has learnt how to set up a Skype video call all by himself. His forehead and the ceiling lamp look just fine. :heehee:
