Sounds like a scam to me, don't go clicking on any links @clanless

There are so many scams around at the moment, any message with the words free or refund treat with caution. I can't see for one millisecond that insurers will be handing back money.

    Happy to be proved wrong.

Edited. Looks like I was wrong, sorry @clanless I just got the same email from Admiral.

I can't speak for the UK but I had an infection in my hip in 2018 and was quarantined for a week. All hospital staff and visitors had to put on a disposable gown and gloves which in my case were stacked on a table outside my room and were disposed of in a bin by my room on departure. I would dread to think how many were used daily ... nurses, doctors, cleaner, ancillary staff, visitor(s) (T'other Half once a day). It was disposable plates/cups/cutlery as was toileting gear. It was private and I was paying for every item. :hate-shocked:

Yes, we definitely have those here too. On the telly they show staff in gowns/smocks with a plastic apron and face mask or protective hazmat mask

I understand that the aprons need to be binned ... I think there may be scope for them being binned more frequently than necessary (on a Covid-19 ward where everyone is infected is there a benefit to replacing between patients? I absolutely do not know the answer, just thinking-out-loud)

But I was surprised that we appear to be grossly short of the cotton gowns as well.

The hazmat rigid plastic face screens I can well believe we don't have enough of - that's not the sort of thing any nation keeps in store for the once-in-a-century requirement to equip every single health-worker ...

... but I struggle to understand why it would be hard to acquire the plastic disposable aprons. Doesn't look much different to a large plastic bag to me, but maybe re-tooling a plastic bag factory isn't simple ... or its another of the industries we ditched when we decided that Banking and Services was all that UK PLC should "produce" ...

Plastic Waste ... another hobby horse that I ride. Having made all the obvious Eco adjustments in our life we are now on a Zero Plastic trajectory ... very hard to shop and come home with no plastic packaging. And none of it is recycled (well, it is, but "only once" not "repeatedly" because it is down-cycled into stuff that cannot itself, then, be recycled, so all the food plastic is never recycled as same [slightly sweeping statement, but largely the case])

Doh! Good point @JWK. That would account for the "IF you are a customer" wording ...

The gowns, which I wore too, were made of a tearable fibre cotton for lack of coming up with anything else! :rolleyespink:

Today's lunch was quiche with pastry made using chapati flour. Not only did it look like pastry made from the stone ground flour bought in sacks from a whole food shop/co-op around 40 years ago, it had the same consistancy and similar flavour. I can live with that for some time.

Also made a loaf of bread with it yesterday (despite still having some breadflour) and I remembervit making nice and crispy toast. Might try some cheesey scones tomorrow.

This junction is notorious for tailbacks - on any other day gridlocked:

We received our first Morrisons online shop today - only 2 substitutions - the delivery guy turned up in a plain white van - he told me - from 2 meters away - that they are waiting for the liveried vehicles. The Morrisons recruitment drive has worked a treat.

I keep on putting pictures up of the empty roads - I'm so proud :blue thumb: as to how the North Wales lot have collectively responded to the lock down.

The roads are empty because nobody is working, or should I say, most people are not working, most traffic is not people out enjoying themselves , during the week, its people trying to make a living.
Its costing the earth, and guess who will be paying;)

Looking at the daily briefing, is it really working ?
Those graphs look pretty flat to me and going nowhere.

Ok, I know its facebook, but just seen a video of facemasks being made in what looks like India, if its true you wouldn't want one of those anywhere near you face at the best of times.
Dont know how to link the video to here.
