I don't have much experience with them, 2 my plantlets seem unhappy. Is it too cold or unappropriate compost? Toms and aubergines look ok.

@Alisa when the hot weatner hits, they'll really take off. They look good!

@Alisa they look OK but a bit lanky. Check to see whether any roots are coming out of the bottom of the pots. If they are then pot them on but don't feed them until you see the first flowers setting. :)

I over wintered 2, took them in October and drove to Portugal for a month. I didn't think they'd survive just a drop of water every couple of weeks.
One now has 5 large pods and the other lots of flowers, no idea what they are but it has given me a head start over the ones sown in February. They have been outside for over two weeks and seem ok even when the temp was down to 37f.
          Quite pleased:smile:

Thank you, no roots yet visible from the bottom of the pots, hopefully warmer weather is ahead. It looks like I don't have windowsills with proper bright daylight. I bring toms to the greenhouse every morning, but with cooler weather right now decided to keep chillies inside.

I’m confused about our chillies. I showed them at the same time as normal, they came up as normal, I potted them on on 17/3/20, around the same time as normal....
....and they’ve hardly grown since. Literally, two pairs of true leaves per plant.

The only thing that I can think of is the compost. Any suggestions as to how I can rectify? I tried applying a weak tomato food, but there was no response....

May be too chilly for them (ouch - chilly for chilly :) ). Mine were stuck as on photo above for a long. They started growing only with higher t on the windowsill and sun.

                  Thanks @Alisa !

I’ve been growing chillies for years, and this is the 7th year in this house. I’m growing in the same areas of the house as before, we’ve had the current heating system for 4 years now, and the thermostat is set to 15c overnight, and 20c during the day. So they have the same temps as previous years....

First time growing chillies , got the kids involved so we have 2 heat less varieties, Trinidad scorpion ( heat less habanero) and Toro, plus cherry bomb ( peppadew ) for me ;) no pics yet as they are still germinating , late in season but they hopefully might do something in the polytunnel, if not they can sit in the window overwinter
                    ( hopefully )

Thought I’d better put some photographic evidence of the plants not growing.... 703DA92B-E01D-462A-86E2-D399B8926FC4.jpeg

Amazingly, one of the plants is starting to flower!!
(Oh, and that’s the more advanced tray!!)

I've only got some mild chillis on the go, and to be honest they are very slow.
They are in the greenhouse and the nights have not been very mild recently.

@Sian in Belgium Our chillies have been slower this year as well . Now that we're gradually getting some more room in the heated propagator I'll have to put them back in. If one already has flowers on it then I would repot it into a 3" pot. Sorry! I meant, into a 7.62cm pot

Needle in a haystack springs to mind, I know:heehee: They’re from a mixed pack. They start by growing upwards and gradually bend downwards as they ripen. They’re really tasty, nice heat and I’d like to grow them again. I will save seeds just wondered if anyone recognised them

You've hit the nail (not needle :heehee:) on the head as there are over 2,000 varieties! Keep the seed but they may not grow true as you have other varieties and they're notoriously promiscuous.
