Hi my name is Mike and I'm a new gardener. Phew just getting that off my chest feels good! It all started with tending a couple of hanging baskets, not realising this was a gateway planting - i should've known really, they were by my gate!

I started going to garden centres but kept fooling myself that "I could stop anytime I wanted": before I knew it I was mainlining clematis and mugging friends for heuchera cuttings!

My partner is the real gardener, I mostly stick to containers, though I really am addicted to clematis: I love the little baby plants you can buy from various supermarkets and currently have about a dozen sat on my patio that I'm cossetting (gods only know what I'm gonna do with them, we haven't got the space to plant them out; I'll probably have to give most of them away).

:sign0016: Mike . Clematis probably one of the garden best plants and a must for most, I have a few myself but some other members have many more, I think @ARMANDII has well over 100

Mike, welcome to the site. Why only Clematis?

Thanks for the welcome @Perki
@daitheplant I don't know really, I guess it's their exotic-ness(?) Tbf I do grow other stuff in baskets and pots, for instance I have a small (but growing) collection of heuchera, but mostly if I think of other plants it's usually "what will go well with that clematis"? The other reason is my partner is a keen gardener who has taken it up as a profession since retiring early, and so we stick to our 'zones' to avoid argument!
