They won't be able to open much up here until they get the kids back to school.
I think the government know that but can't say it.
I'm not noticing anything much different since they said people should go back to work.

There appears to be wide spread opposition to opening up the schools, if they don't we will be in this hole until mid September at least.

Latest figures I have available figures for the UK:

      Infected: 244 249.
      Deaths: 34 679.
Recovered: 458. (this figure does seem wrong to me!).

I'm expecting these to be updated later.

after waiting for spares I tried to do a mismatch of mower parts, cut a small section of lawn and the foreword reverse cables both snapped. Ok so went online only to find they are £45 each, so trying to make my own cables for £10 a pair a much better price

The Isle of Man Government is seriously considering keeping schools closed until January 2021.

Just my opinion but, I think it's far to soon to allow infants etc back yet.

There is a thing about infections and ages. In the case of older persons, the rate of infection can actually slow the problem down. In children they can in a way work in fits and starts and show little or no similarity. I'd prefer to err on the side of caution.

Today we walked to the outskirts of the next village for the first time since lockdown.

Around this way people stay 2m apart and use sticks/gloves/dog poo bags/etc to open gates and poo bins but 2 miles away it's another culture entirely, everybody handling everything and standing blocking your way.

Given up listening to the daily briefing, the charts are just incomprehensible as far as I'm concerned and getting more so as it goes on.
So we now have a death rate of 60,000 if you add all the ones that might have had it, possibly, perhaps, almost, we think.

Noticed the scientist woman appeared to be getting a bit tetchy regarding the questioning on how the approach was going.

And where the hell is Boris???? Did he die.

It would provide a bit more confidence if Boris made an appearance once in a while during the week

As for schools opening, and safety of the children, it is rubbish, they need the schools open so the parents can have baby sitters and go back to work

Children not spreading infections, Has the Gov not heard of measles, mumps, chicken pox, whooping cough, head lice and impetigo

Its never going to be "safe" to do anything.
It has to be a calculated risk, otherwise we could still be like we are now in 12 months time.
Bearing in mind, for all those waiting for a vaccine, they actually said last night there might never be a vaccine.

You could go back to work and get run over by a bus, but then it wouldn't be "safe" to have done so.

Totally agree @pete. Life is a risk every day. Unfortunately we cannot stay in "Castle cotton wool" forever. People need to get back to work with sensible precautions, whatever they may be. Nothing can be 100% guaranteed.
I really would like to see the other side of the M6, before I get much older :blue thumb:

We should should have gone in hard at the first sign, we might be in a better position now.
As for people moaning that there’s no details on the route back to normality, if they state it then you will get all sorts of versions and parties on the moon.

I haven't been to work for twenty years and there are no buses round here. Of course, if you use the politicians' reasoning then it means that I don't go to work because there are no buses. :noidea::heehee:

Anyway, I think you should all go back to work as someone has to pay for my pension. :old:

I went into the bank today, went up to the teller wearing my mask and gloves and asked for money. It didn't seem to bother him at all. If I had done that last year he'd have called the police!

There used to be a sign in the service station where I go, Remove crash helmets before entering.

Now you can wander in with a total face mask and they actually like you doing it , weird.;)
