Bit difficult to work out, when it comes to imposing tariffs on some things.

I mean lots of the car manufacturers have factories in all different countries.

Vauxhall, Ford for example, some parts made here, some made in other European countries, how can you apply a tariff on the final product, bearing in mind some models are built here some abroad.

There will be tariffs on parts, there will be tariffs on the finished products, and all will vary. The French will be rubbing their hands, as Renault are tied up with Nissan and Peugeot own Vauxhall (so could in theory do the same as Nissan); of the Germans, only Mercedes has a link through Nissan and Renault, but that is only parts and not vehicles, so the Germans and Spanish marques are going to struggle. VAG are still up to their neck in dieselgate payouts, so they aren't in a great place anyway.

I suspect that Nissan in particular are also eyeing up a potential path for exports with favourable tariffs to the US, as 'Neesan' are quite popular over there. Conversely, JLR recently opened a factory in Slovakia - I believe this was two pronged, the first being cheap labour to build products in the event we did do a suitable deal with the EU, or a production facility in the EU to allow us to sell cars within the EU without having to pay the tariffs.

Apparently Macaroon is worried - it's already happening:

When the UK left the EU on January 31, Guernsey officials temporarily suspended access to the island’s waters by French vessels. While Guernsey is a self-governing dependency of the British crown, it is not part of the UK and was never part of the EU. According to France’s agriculture ministry, the fate of French fishermen in Guernsey waters was governed by a treaty called the Convention of London, which expired with Britain’s EU membership.

IAN BLACKFORD isolated himself after a 600-mile trip to his Skye home while the UK was in lockdown.

Ian, you are demanding the resignation of Domino because he travelled 260 miles to self islote - why haven't you resigned?

Hi @clanless , Ian Blackford did what 99% of MP's did and went home when Parliament stopped sitting in person. If he resigns then so should virtually every MP in the country.
My MP came home to his constituency and I'm sure if you check it out your's probably did too.

                    Sounds like a plan ;).

I see that a Bill is going through due process to force Boris to extend the transition period by 2 years. It's a private members Bill and with BoJo's majority it has no chance of success.

A private members Bill - writing to Barney - same old same old from the opposition. I blame Ian Blackford. When he sees us flourish outside of the EU - I suspect Scottish Independence will fade quietly into history.

My local MP had a lucky escape recently. They were throwing a birthday party at his house - complete with visitors - when the old bill arrived. He just happened to be in London at the time - and said that he had to remind his family of the lock down rules....

My only concern with Mr Blackford is that he inferred that he had symptoms when he retreated home, and isolated away from his wife. As you know, there was a significant outbreak of C19 on Skye some time later, so one does wonder if he carried it back home with him. Not for one second saying he did anything wrong, or intentionally, and of course it could well be pure coincidence.
