Can someone answer my question about pets, I was shared a video of a family reunion for the first time since lockdown, the humans are all keeping 2 m apart but their dogs were really excited to see each other again and were running between the two family groups getting petted and stroked and playing with each other as they do. Does the virus transfer onto animal fur then can someone else pick it up by touching the dog in a short space of time? I would imagine it is the same as shaking hands with each other?

      Hello all

      I hope you are well.

I am not coping too well at the moment and just need to vent, just a little :)

I heard the new guidelines regarding having to wear a face covering when using Public Transport or entering Shops.

Because of my Autism I am sensitive to a few things including Sound, Bright Light, Heat and Touch.

Because of my sensitivity to touch there is no way I could wear a face covering, I am even having to keep my hair damp so it does not irritate my neck and face since I have not been able to get it cut since the lockdown started.

So, according to these new rules, I will not be able to use Public Transport which I have always relied on since I have no other option available to me or go into the shops.

My life was difficult enough as it was, it has now got significantly more so

Roll on the next life, I have had enough of this one

      Vent over :)

      Thanks

      Kevin

        Hello @KFF

Thanks for the reply and the information.

I will look into getting the Exemption Certificate, unfortunately, my Doctor of 15 years retired a couple of years ago and I have not seen a Doctor since that time as it takes me a long time to get used to someone new.

I will contact my Liaison at the Council first and see if they can help me.

        Thanks

        Kevin

          Interesting ...

Update: How COVID-19 fatalities in the US compare to the country's worst flu seasons
By John Roach, AccuWeather staff writer
          Published jun. 4, 2020 3:43 PM

Deaths in the U.S. from the coronavirus have topped more than 107,000 as of June 4, meaning the total has passed the number of deaths from the flu season of 1967 (roughly 100,000) and is approaching the number of people who died from the flu outbreak in 1957 -- an estimated 116,000, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The 1957 outbreak erupted in earnest during the fall of that year, according to the scholarly website JSTOR Daily, and hit younger Americans particularly hard.

If the number of fatalities passes roughly 116,000, the only pandemic to cause more American deaths would be the Spanish Flu of 1918, which caused an estimated 675,000 fatalities, according to the CDC.

Well, I'm getting puzzled now, what information?
I dont have specific numbers my memory is not that good.
We get the briefing every day that tells us how many deaths each day and how many new cases, and the new cases figure has come down quite a lot in the last month, which is about the time a lot of those that are dying now would have contracted it, or even earlier, some are in hospital a couple of months before dying.

No I dont have a link because its not something I delve into via the internet, I just go by what they say each day on the TV.

                @pete that's what I thought you meant.

On April 15th there were umpty cases and some of those died but not until May 15th so the death counts as May 15th. And recovery times seem to widely vary because some only have mild symptoms to deal with. Lots of variables that probably won't be released to the public.

I was curious about something. Those talking about neighbours having parties or gatherings - did these neighbours do this before the '19 hit too? Is it an preemptive return to "normal" or thumbing their nose?

Glad someone could see what I was getting at.:blue thumb:

Most neighbours around here have been getting together for the last 2 months, and making the most of the good weather and time off work.

Not neighbours mostly, more family members dropping by, but as its gone on more people are just ignoring it.

That those dying are those who got infected one or two months ago. I have never seen such information. N'er mind!

Well you dont get it today and die tomorrow.
There is Kate Garaway's, (presenter on TV), other half who has been in hospital for 10 weeks now I think, he is apparently now covid free, but its attacked all his other organs and its still touch and go even now.
                      Just one example.

@Kevin Cowans one of my grandson's is on the autism scale. He is barely verbal and could never communicate as well as you. And I have a constant fear of someone abusing his timid nature. He is such a nice kid.

And he is also tidy, recycles religiously and all sorts of wonderful things!

@pete I agree that in order to put out the actual statistics including day diagnosed, day recovered or died, region, etc. would be mind boggling. :rolleyespink:Just so people realize that "sick today gone tomorrow" is not the way it happens.

We have people moaning that the infection rate isn't dropping fast enough however testing has now tripled. Why can't people understand this simple law of probability.

@Victoria I recall the same thing @pete is saying, I am sure it would have been on either Sky or BBC news which are the only things I watch. We were told it was taking 2 to 4 weeks for people who contracted it to either recover or go into intensive care and then it's a long battle and some don't make it.

                            Hello @CanadianLori

                            Thanks for the reply.

I have been told, on multiple occasions by various professionals that I am one of the rare cases where, considering my issues, I am able to communicate extremely well, not so much in person though.

I have even helped to verbalize various issues to help Counsellors and Support Workers help others with Autism who have difficulty explaining what they are feeling.

It feels good to help others especially when they are not able to help themselves.

                            Thanks
