    Instead of working from Home on a part time/retirement basis as I have been for the last year I have signed a new contract which takes me back to work on a 4 day week so instead of walking into the garden whenever I want I'm now enclosed in a "secure" working area where I get tested every day and don't leave until it's time to go home, so the garden is the place I first head for after a cuddle with the Kittens who both have now learnt to climb up me without using their claws so I don't get scratched. But it's so nice to be able to walk around the garden again even if I was on holiday. Some pics I took last night.......

        About 5 years ago I bought a Wisteria "Alba" from a reputable Village Plant Nursery in Rutland and, unfortunately, it sat in a large bucket for all that time while I procrastinated on where it's final planting site would be and, of course, throughout that time the Wisteria sat, sulked and never flowered. But, about 2 months ago I bought a large, (180 litre) ceramic pot and planted the Wisteria in it
        upload_2020-7-7_15-0-28.png

        Anyway, the Wisteria seemed to thrive in the new pot and when I came back from the fishing holiday I found that the Wisteria had flowered:hapydancsmil::hapfeet:
        Now this is the label that was attached to the Wisteria when I bought it and still is attached to it even now
        upload_2020-7-7_15-7-7.png
        So, as you can see, I bought it as an "Alba":dunno:

        And this is the colour of the flowers......
        upload_2020-7-7_15-10-16.png

        :dunno::wallbanging::scratch::doh:
        However, it's not a big thing as I'm pleased that the Wisteria has decided to show it's happy by flowering and I quite like the colour of the blooms. the plan is to train the Wisteria along the South facing garage wall

        upload_2020-7-7_15-26-27.png

        so that the blooms will hang down just above the Bearded Iris bench.......well, that's the plan.:heehee:

          Today I was busy so didn't get much chance in the garden. I filled half a wheelie bin with bindweed and rose bay willow herb. The bindweed was difficult as the area I was working in is like a jungle so the weed isn't visible until it gets over 5ft high. The problem is that it starts to bind different plants together and then pull them down towards the ground.

          I was working in a bed with bamboos, Veronicastrum, Euphorbia mellifera (all at least 7ft high) and Phlomis russelliana, Hamamelis, Hebes and a number of other large plants and it was made more awkward as there were stinging nettles hidden inside them. :sad:

            It's still raining :wallbanging: so I haven't done much again :gaah: the Snapdragons in the greenhouse need planting out soon and I need to dig up a fushia from the border and pot it up. A long list of things I need to do.....in the meantime I'm contemplating what to put into the big border where the conifers have been removed. The weather app is saying Saturday will be dry so it will be a busy day.

            Nice to see you back @ARMANDII and that you are well.....beautiful photos as usual :blue thumb:

              Thank you, Jasmine, that's much appreciated and I hope you are well too. To be honest, I haven't had time to clean my car out so it still has the "beautiful" aroma of Fish and wet nets.:heehee:..........and I'm glad you like the photo's although I'm never seem to do real justice to the actual beauty of the flowers.:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

                They're delivering the new pane of glass for the roof of the greenhouse today. Someone has still got to build the framework for holding it in place (hopefully this week) and then we shall be able to manoeuvre into position. In the meantime the greenhouse is air conditioned. :whistle:

                    We have rain:rain::hapfeet:

                    so today I’ve been watering the chilli plants (all indoors), and will be standing in the doorway, enjoying the sound of gentle rain falling on thirsty ground!

                      Gentle rain all night and intermittently through the morning but sunny now and have been showing visitors round the garden and taking cuttings for them and pulling rhubarb.

                        Finally finished planting out the reserve bedding plants in the gaps made by the spaces left by battered/ broken plants that were a result from the recent wind. It had better not return as I've no plants left now. :nonofinger:

                          Yes, I think thats why I assumed you lived in the countryside, because you mentioned wildlife visiting the garden quite often. But then, we get foxes, squirrels and badgers here in London, and it's definitely not countryside either :)

                            I only watered as it was too hot to play. @Aldo last night I had a skunk come wandering through the yard. We looked at each other and it left after a good sniff around. Thank goodness he didn't leave anything for me to sniff!

                            @clanless that dish was hit by lightning about 25 years ago and hasn't worked since. It just sits and rusts. Lazy louts!

                              The weather stayed pretty dry today, so it gave me the chance to finish two steps that I've been building into the bank that leads down to the septic tanks. An area of about 5 x 5ft of the lawn had started to sink at what is now the top of the steps, so I've filled that with topsoil and grass seeded.

                                Seeing how many neighbours must keep them in their prayers, perhaps they are keeping it up for defense, just in case the bolt was meant for them?
