So I am many others are now going to have to buy a license to watch TV.

This has always been a sore point with me. I've always understood the license allowed you to recieve a wireless transmitted signal.. OK, yes that in principal is what happens, but. Surely the revenue should go to the Treasury not the BBC.

I along with many others will nevertheless pay up, simply to keep the blood pressure down. On the BBC TV what do we get?

Constant repeats of the weather forecast. Repeated news coverage. Auctions, buying and selling junk. I doubt if the contestants get paid. Then sport, grossly outwheighed by fottball, and this really bugs me. Garry Liniker, perhaps a nice chap, but why pay him so much. This leads onto. Why perhaps haveing sat through 90 minutes of a soccar amtch. Why do we need a post mortem on it, once again, a team of past players going all over it again. Now and again a good perhaps serial comes up.

I like to watch and learn. Sorry what rubbish the BBC churn out isn't my cuppa. Oh! and that woman with the black hair, from Strictly Come Dancing. Come on luv, you don't even make a good stooge. So how come you get paid so much?

I think that unless the Beeb wake up. More and more will go for netflex and the like.

Apparently its not a criminal offence not to have a TV licence anymore.

There used to be that ad put out by the BBC of some bloke sitting in the court waiting for his case to come up, surrounded by druggies and and other criminals.
At the end it said, something along the lines of, pay for your licence, don't get a criminal record.

RIGHT....I'm sorry but it's Covid related...
In our mini supermarket this morning 4 people were stood on the 'dots' 2 metres apart...as I was leaving the shop two women were almost on top of each other, the security chap politely asked them to stand in the appropriate areas...well what a mouthful that poor chap got..I thought Loli keep it buttoned but as was walking out one turned to me a was really insulting the chap...couldn't keep it buttoned so told her "if she was doing as is expected he wouldn't have had to tell her"...she wasn't a happy bunny at all. What's wrong with some people.

Looking it up. I might have got it wrong, it appears it is still a criminal offence but they a discussing, (we all know how long that kind of thing takes), making it a civil offence.
So basically a debt if you dont pay it.

Do we still have to pay it if we have a wind-up TV?

I thought I heard yesterday that if you get pension credit then you still get your licence for free?

My moan - it's so petty but I'm in a very down mood with my poorly pooch....

...I'm sat outside and my neighbour who has the tiniest patch of grass no larger than 6 x 6ft, is cutting her grass and she is so annoying. It takes her ages. She does one buzz, then nothing for a minute, then another buzz, and nothing for a minute. She drives me insane taking so long over the tiniest piece of grass. She has OCD so I guess that is why she is like that about it. But ARRRRGH! sometimes i just want to shout "just do the ******* whole lot in one go!" GRRR.

Yep, pete is right. There is legislation in the pipeline to make the non payment of the TV Licence a Civil offence rather than a criminal offence,:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee: but I believe that there is opposition to the change from some of the Labour and Liberal benches. If it does come out then it may be in the Winter of this year or very likely next year.

Claims against non payers would be taken through the Small Claims Courts which, to me, is not the best way to go as it would add more costs to those who lose their case.
