!! That puts my 9.000l of rainwater storage to shame, Victoria! Couldn't you use the tank for water collection in the winter?

How do you do it, please? :-) Mine is looking healthy but no sign of flower buds, despite mostly tropical temps for 2 months...

Could do but we don't get that much water in the winter either. This past one was very dry and would have to buy a new pump. Water bills are low here, about 12 Euros Winter and 22 Euros Summer which includes meter rental and rubbish collection. All my shrub/trees are drought resistant (never water them) so it's just pots really. Thought o turning it into a plunge pool but neither of us are water babies.

@CarolineL yes it was bought in the flower market in Funchal when we went to Madeira January last year, it was just a 12" stem rooted ina small plastic bag. I really didn't think it was even going to grow but it did and flowering this small was unexpected.

"Foreigners in Portugal at an all time high

                              in News ยท 26-06-2020 01:00:00

The foreign population residing in Portugal increased in 2019 for the fourth consecutive year, totalling 590,348 citizens, the highest figure recorded by the Foreigners and Borders Service since its emergence in 1976, revealed the SEF.

At the end of 2019, 151,304 Brazilians lived in Portugal, followed by Cape Verdeans (37,436), British (34,358), Romanian (31,065), Ukrainian (29,718), Chinese (27,839), Italian (25,408), French (23,125) and Angolan (22,691)."

There are a lot of Irish, Dutch, Germans, Scandinavians, American and Canadians moving here also. The number of Brits is far higher as they like to go "under the radar" (I have read 60,000). The above numbers are legal immigrants.
