Echinops tjanshanica grows easily from seed, but doesn't self seed much, smells nice and the insects love it. Reaches over 6ft tall, wear gloves when handling. It is pretty tolerant of dry weather.

On a recent trip to the local greenhouse, we came across some new plants.
Echhibeckia: An intergeneric cross between two popular perennials offering the appearance of Rudbeckia with the hardiness of Echinacea.

They are well over a foot in height and very hardy as transplanting did not seem to bother them at all. The flowers are said to last six weeks so hardly any deadheading is needed.

We purchased two large plants at about eleven dollars per plant, which we thought was very reasonable for perennials.

I'm a fan of both but Echinacea is, for me, a short lived Hardy Perrenial which at the most lasts 2 to 3 seasons. I would love to see a true Echinacea with a much longer life term. So your Echibeckia crossed genes plants sound very interesting, Hydro, let us all know how you get on with them:love30::thumbsup::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:
