Good berry issue

    Hi all thanks for the warm welcome!

    I’ve got some sort of white fungus issue with my gooseberries does anyone know what it is ?

    it appears to be on the stems only

    The photo is not really sharp enough, but could it be lichen? In which case not really a problem, but grows on older slower growing shoots. So prune out some of the oldest stems every year and allow new shoots to replace them, also feed the plant to encourage growth.

      As Nigel says, the pic isn't entirely clear. But it could be woolly aphid. If it is, I've had some reasonable success clearing them on my apple tree, so see if that might be the problem.

        Surely the easiest way to find out is give the whatever, a squeeze between finger and thumb.

        I think it is some sort of mould? I can’t see any aphids.

        Hard to tell. They aren't always right under the stuff. What kind of texture is it?
