Just pulled a few weeds, did a bit of deadheading and then enjoyed watching the bees who are still active on the nepeta and dahlias. I like September more than August:)

We had the other Jacaranda cut last July ...

But by this June it looked like this ...

              Jacaranda 28 Jun20.jpg

So now it's back to the same as the other ... and the cats have their launching pad back ...

Wowsers @Victoria it will look fab when it's all grown back nicely :)

I've just pruned a neglected pear tree on the communal land. Hopefully it will cope but it was in such a state it would have died or snapped anyway.

wanted to do more gardening but it started pouring down.

I cut back a 'lollipop' Ilex Golden King which had become rather top heavy ...

It looks a bit drastic but I've done this to the tree before and it always grows back nicely

It is quite shocking isn't it Michael? But we know they will come back beautifully. That's a lovely specimen. I am standardising a double pink Oleander.

Thanks @Victoria - I did it originally to have more room for planting. Good luck with your Oleander, it sounds pretty .

You dont mess around Michael... That lollipop looked superb!
I guess the new growth will balance out better with the trunk next year.
Must admit though your bold approach was a bit of a shock.

My 800 seeds for "Pansy Viola wittrockiana Rococo Frilled Mixture" :rolleyespink: arrived today to discover they don't like hot climates ...where was my head? We had some regular pansies years ago on the shady windowsill under the Jacaranda ... which is now a trunk! :wallbanging: Got to sort through seeds to look for alternative for hot spot ... maybe Scented Geraniums.
