      I can see why, but no...the flowers are curved, stems more square and hairy, toothed leaves

        Got it! Strobilanthes atropurpureus. Fancy forgetting that :biggrin: There are a couple of beautiful S. species with coloured leaves, but they're not very hardy. Several (hopefully) indelible labels duly made :)

              I'm very fond of it because it seems to be thriving despite 4 solid months of rain in winter and then 4 months of heat and drought in summer. Not many plants do!
