It's important not to buy the plastic waterproof plasters because they fall off when you wash your hands,

They are also impossible to get out the packet without putting your thumb directly onto the sterile bit in the middle.

I have been a member of ebay for many years now as a private buyer and seller.

"I too am sick to death of being conned and ripped off by people",

I had another one today, I listed a new unused multi purpose strimmer tool a few weeks ago, the buyer sent me a return request claiming it didn’t work, the item arrived today, when I opened the parcel the whole tool was covered in garden waste, the hedge trimmer and chain saw was blunt and the rest of the kit was in a terrible mess from his use of it, clearly it had been used, I rang ebay who said now the item had been returned they were giving the buyer a complete refund including the shipping costs both ways, the money was taken out of my account without further ado, now I am left with a garden multi tool for £198. 99 worth nothing now.

In addition to this the buyer had the cheek to leave me a negative feedback saying “Not willing to accept refunds”

Ebays motto is ‘a safe place to trade’ ….not in my opinion.

I don’t know what has happened to ebay, since it became impossible to leave negative feedback for a buyer of this kind.

This fraudulent use and return has become frequent, ebay say ’if you don’t like it….

Why not advertise as collection only or No Returms Accepted. Hope you have better luck in the future.

@weedaway Im so sorry to hear this.
Ive been both a seller and a buyer for years but recently withdrew all my items I was selling which was over 100. As Im stuck at home most of the time due to my own problems I do still rely on it to buy things. Even though my budget is tight and the money accrued from my sales was very useful I made the decision that the stress just wasn't worth it anymore. Not to mention that once Id paid both ebay and paypal fees including a percentage of the postage I was almost giving stuff away. When ebay started charging commission on postage I started to fall out of love them a bit and its gone downhill ever since. I ended up boxing everything up and donated it to a local Hospice Charity. If I ever have any high value items I put them on a local website for collection on payment only.
              @Mike Allen
Unfortunately even if you state 'no returns' they can still claim an item is faulty or not as described and ebay give them a refund no questions asked and then take it from you. It has become a frausters paradise.

During the height of the Pandemic they claimed to to protect buyers from profiteering but I regularly saw, for example, pasta advertised at 20x the normal shop price. Ebay has become a shameful place and has got too big for its boots in my opinion.

Im also fed up with buying on there and stuff arriving from Amazon. If I wanted to buy from Amazon I would have done so. Sellers should be made to state that your order will be filled by Amazon.

                Good morning @Mike Allen

I used to advertise collection only but I had some real nutters turn up, once they realised that I am a women living along in a semi remote location (no immediate neighbours for 100 yards either way) I could not get rid of them, one guy even tried to push his way in, so no more collections only.

I do list ‘no returns accepted’ and make it clear that I am a private seller, but the buyers are savvy to this and make false allegations to return the item and at no expense to them eg, It was broken on arrival, The item does not work, There were parts missing, Not as described, all of these negate a ‘no returns accepted’

If that is not bad enough I received this from ebay this morning:

"We want to ensure you are clear about the returns process as a private seller, so here is some information we hope you find useful:

                • When you listed this item, you chose to not accept domestic returns for remorse or change of mind returns.

                • In this instance however, your buyer has opened the return stating that the item was not as described".
The item in question has 12 pictures of it from different angles, has the serial numbers and a full description, so how can it be ‘not as described’

I also received threats from the buyer if I didn’t comply with his demands.

ebay gave him a full refund plus all the postage I paid out.

The buyer gave me a negative with false allegations in my feedback.

I ended up with items damaged which I cant sell on.

@weedaway As you have 'before' photographs and 'after' evidence, surely you can get the fraud squad in on this. These morons are nothing but despicable and a scourge on society.

T'other Half buys and sells musical equipment and he never allows anyone to our home. He will go to theirs to 'buy' but he has various meeting places to 'sell' usually shopping center car parks or train stations.

It happens everywhere - I was talking to my neighbour the other day - he openly admitted to buying tools, using them for the one job and then returning them - claiming his wife has already bought said tool. He also used to buy paint - use some of the paint (topping up with water if he used too much) and returning to the store for a refund. I've no idea why he did this as he is a very wealthy man - changes his car every year because he can afford to take the hit on depreciation. Meanwhile we're driving around in a rusty Peugeot.

I did give him a stern disapproving look though :nonofinger: - that will teach him won't it...

:yikes: Maybe that is why he is very wealthy!

I met a girl once who said she used to buy dresses, wear them to a function with the tag on the inside then return it for full refund.
                      :hate-shocked:

I have suffered from this kind of fraudulent behaviour myself,

I have listed my New unwanted unworn clothes in the past: Frank Usher, Armani, Prada. Bags Radley, Gucci, and so on which the buyer clearly used and sent back as ‘don’t fit’ or ‘not as described’ but was covered in stinking sweat, lipstick, beer and other substances but ebay gave them all refunds,

I am at my end with ebay.

Plaid Cymru are doing a SNP - they are looking for a referendum on Welsh independence. There is less than a 0% chance of this happening.

How can they be sold as 'waterproof plasters' when they are the absolute worst for washing straight off..
I've found that micro porous tape is the best option so far.
The adhesive that 3M use on that, is far superior to the average plaster.
