Hi. This popped up in garden next to fence last year and grew to abput 1 foot (30cm).
Must admit I was expecting it to die off over winter but this year it is thriving and is now about 2.5 feet (76 cm) and looks like it is thriving.
I have no problem with it if it stays fairly small but do not want to to overpower other plants and get out of control like my clematis Montana once did!!
Any info on what shrub it is and the estimated height would be appreciated. I am always facinated on what seed get blown or dropped into garden and they survive.
    Thank you Shrub.jpg

Looks to me like a hypericum (St John's Wort) - did it have single yellow flowers? There are lots of different varieties, most of which don't get that tall, but they like to spread and that can be a different kind of nuisance!

Thanks for your reply Clare G. Yes it did have single yellow flowers. I just looked up Hypercium and as you say there are a lot of varieties. They seem to be more spreaders then grow high & straggly. I think I will leave it and se what happens.
I see Tiger is doing what our animals always seem to do,supervise. They never seem to do any work to help except the occasional digging especialy where your new plants have gone into the ground!!!:):)

Yup that sounds like a good solution @trogre.

Oh yes - Tiger makes an excellent, not too hands-on, supervisor  Thank goodness, he doesn't seem much interested in digging!
