Cut back a couple of large Toadflax that self seeded into the patio container and dead headed a lavender in a nearby pot. Cleaned out hedgehog feeding station . Sat on caravan steps watching the Goldfinches squabbling over the perches on the nyger seed feeders. Had a wander around front garden and stared at the hole in the ground that is meant to be another pond. It's starting to fill itself in as was dug out back in May. Hoping to get to it this winter and make the pond happen. Pulled blanket weed out of existing pond.

My day off tomorrow with some dry weather forecast so I shall be out in the garden doing catch up jobs again. I'm expecting on last parcel tomorrow of Phox, Aubretia, Campanula, Iberis for planting into the edges of the large pots on the Patio. So I'll pot them one and plant them in Spring. I've also got to deweed the large pots of Bearded Iris which seem to attract weed seeds!!

I have forgotten when we had a dry day. That Northern quote,'There's now't so strange as folk' I really does have a meaning. Not long ago, we were, well some of us were, moaning about the hot weather. Now looking out of the window. Oh no! B-raining again.
So for me. I have been confined to my books and study. OK. The odd nodding off in the arm chair.
Tomorrow I'm off to London, to Guys hospital for my pre-op check up. Funny. I did part of this over the phone. The medic and I both had a good laugh at times. He thankfully actually read what was already on my file. Then I asked him. How are you going to do the ECG & blood test? Great guy. Hope we meet up some time. Thankfully. Being an 'oldie' I have my freebie travel card. However Daughter Amanda even though she is unwell herself, she insists on driving me to the hospital.

Sorry if at times I bore you folk, but you lot mean a great deal to me. In a couple of weeks I will be lying there and trying to joke. NO. I'm inocent, as the knock out needle enters my arm. Then next. Michael. How do you feel?

The day has stayed dry and the skies went from cloudy to some sunshine with the temperature rose to around 59f, so I moved some Rudbeckia "Goldsturm" from an area of shade, from other plants, to a place nearby where they would be in the Sun.
I decided to dig up a really large clump of Chives that had been there for a good 20 years and I reduced it down to less than a quarter of it's original size which gives more room for surrounding plants. There were also some Aquilegias, which I love, that were also in the wrong place, taking up too much space and "bullying" surrounding plants so they were dug up and followed the chives onto the Compost heap.
I had a box of Alpines delivered today:hapydancsmil: and potted them up from their 9cm pots to larger ones

and I'll overwinter them in a sheltered area ready for planting in the Spring.
I did some more dead heading of Rudbeckia and the Roses just to keep things in check and then filled up the Bird Feeders again.
The Bearded Iris in pots had. despite regular checks, weed seedlings growing in the compost so I used a very small fork to gently rake them out but, no doubt, I'll be doing it again and again.
Before I headed for the House I gave the wooden shafts of the Garden Fork, Spade, and hand Trowels and Forks an annual coating of Boiled Linseed Oil and left them to dry out in the Garage.....and then headed in the direction of that Mug of Tea.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Sounds like a lovely day @ARMANDII

I managed to get to the GC today for some compost and other niggly bits. I had to split some houseplants up that were becoming crowded in a terrarium I had been bought a few years ago. Planted some more bulbs in pots, mainly daffodils and alliums. I also picked this little beauty up today. I'm trying to add some winter colour to the back patio area but everything has to go in pots :rolleyespink: and most plants im seeing seem to be trees :gaah: anyway I'm very happy with this Leucothoe keiskei Halloween and may have to buy another one.

Thank you all for your very kind wishes. Felt really ill on way to hospital, nearly turned back. Appointment was only for the pre-op assessment. All the readings were good. Very friendly, happy nurse did the tests. Had a bad night though due to colitis. Now waiting for oprtation date. Have to admit, this has been going on for the past 6/7 yrs. Getting tired of it. Thanks again.
