He loves tomatoes (have to keep him away from green ones). He runs into the kitchen at the mention of them so we started calling them r e d things, but he learnt that spelling in 2 days, and also comes when he hears me washing a handful under the kitchen tap.

They quickly pick up on things and notice when it's changed and know that it's the same thing.
Barley's very good at that and then Berry follows.

Poor Dotty isn't too good again. She's been very sleepy the last few days and not eating much. She is allergic to most foods unfortunately. Venison is ok so I went out and got her venison meatballs from Waitrose and given her that with swede and carrot mash. She's eaten a decent amount of it. I tried to tempt her with some smoked salmon this morning (her super favourite) but she wasnt interested. Took her for a walk on her own around town and she kept stopping. She is quite stubborn but seemed extra stubborn today. The walk took ages bless her  I am wondering if she is getting dementia. She was fantastic on holiday a few weeks ago (after her op). I really hope she is ok.

Bea is being a rascal as usual. Weve got a decorator here and they are behaving as good as gold.

@Snorky85 so sorry to hear that dotty isn't very well. When ours aren't eating we know that there's something wrong with them being golden retrievers so we take them to the vets, it's the best thing to do to find out what's wrong. Hope that she feels better soon.

@Logan yep, she needs a blood test following her op so will get her to the vets. Hopefully its just a bit of an upset stomach. She hasn't been sick at all (like she used to before her op), but she did try to eat a bit of grass on her walk.

When I had a golden and her tummy seemed upset, I'd give her cooked white rice with a bit of garlic in it. Not a big bowl, just a cup or so and that seemed to make her a lot happier/better.

Those sick days are times that we wish these animals could talk.

I hope everything goes well, has she had any diarrhoea? It is worrying when they're not well.

Without sounding too gross....she hasn't had diarrhoea but its not been "nicely formed" if you get what I mean.

@CanadianLori I wish I could give her rice but she is allergic to it. Shes allergic to white fish, chicken, beef, lamb, pork and even potato!!! Basically She is only Ok with blue fish, Venison and Duck, egg and milk. Poor gal

No, definitely no blood - we had that trouble in the past when she had the haemorrhaging gastroenteritis - awful!! Just a bit "mushy". Last two days I've given her yoghurt with a bit of honey in it, as it seemed to perk her up last time she had a bad tum.

I keep saying to her "tell me what's wrong".:frown:
