Thanks Vicky, it's one of the Delphiniums that I grew from seed sent to me from another forum member a couple of years ago. It flowered in spring and then I cut it right back and ......well it's huge again now. I have a couple more too in slightly different shades that are in full bloom again now too.

Thanks Upsy, I see that now. I just read they don't like hot summers. I am not very good with bedding plants as most don't survive her for five minutes. Salvias do like our constant heat, I have a few I have had for about 12 years (below), need to move them actually now we are re-arranging the garden. The new one was dripping with water and I also just read they drop if they are over watered.

If you're referring to the V. chaixii and V. mullein the first is a modern version developed from the second. V. Mullein has enormous leaves that the mullein caterpillar eats.

@strongylodon That is lovely. I have been fancying one for ages now. Small plants are expensive (well the postage is). Seeds are reasonable but do they germinate quickly and grow at a reasonable speed? I am an impatient person when it comes to flora.
