    Totally agree Pete, the Police need more powers, ok, more Police to keep people in and stop the large/medium gatherings. I've seen large groups of people wandering around the my Road in the evenings.
    If anyone watched the FA Cup football on the the Beeb, you could see for yourself there was NO Social Distancing at all.........Now what's that all about?

        Definitely think they are punishing the many, regarding business, instead of the few.
        Restaurants pubs and small shops have spent lots of money and bent over backward to make themselves so-called Covid Secure and now they have shut them down.

        Close the clubs, and close pubs at 6pm, finish for the day.
        Hit the ones that matter, not those working like crazy to keep in business and doing the right thing.

            The UK has nearly 11 times the population density of Sweden.

            Re-draw that cartoon with another 10 elephants crammed into that room and see if it (still?) looks like a good idea.

            Your figures are wrong, this was published 2 days after I pointed it out.

            Dominic Raab did not say Covid-19 tests have a 93% false positive rate

            I don't disagree @Scrungee, but it is worth bearing in mind that they are essentially carrying on as normal, even in their cities. Our approach is clearly not working, is it?

                Not sure that North Korea is a benchmark that anyone would wish to hold themselves against... although it does seem as though some of our elected leaders have been taking lessons from them.

                    I've agreed with both of you as the stated purpose is not really the correct approach. Stopping supermarkets from selling the items just because small businesses are not allowed to open doesn't help the local businesses or the local economy at all. All it will do is boost sales through Amazon and other internet sellers, taking the money completely out of the local economy.

                      On the contrary, there is a desperation to keep things going as much as possible, avoid further restrictions, and decrease existing ones. This morning ministers said they were now looking at reducing the time for self-isolation. Venues are re-opening quite widely. The much mooted "circuit breaker" has clearly been kicked into touch, and even those of us who work in areas of mounting concern are being encouraged to go into work.

                      The fact people can take to the internet and accuse the government of acting like North Korea* is as good a sign as any that our government is not like that of North Korea.

                      * I know it was a joke.

                        The problem is, every time this is mentioned, we hear it will cost thousands, possibly millions, of jobs, and that the threat to life from this is greater than from covid-19.

                        I am fairly sure one thing we can all agree on by now is the pointlessness of comparing one country's approach to any other, given the fundamental differences already mentioned.

                          The fact that people in some parts of the country cannot go an buy a kettle if they need one shows how unfunny that joke is. ;)
