I used to have 4 Buddleia, one white, one light blue, one globosa (yellow), and one dark maroon which was a cutting from a wild Buddleia while on a walk that my Wife and I were taking in some country lanes. The last one just grew so large and fast that in the end it had to go. But the rest all flower for 3 months and over. The Globosa even, in some years, carries on until early December:dunno:

I managed to get outside into the garden between the showers but had to stand the high blustery winds while sowing, after mixing another bucket of Compost, sand, potting grit and Bonemeal, 65 Sweetpea seeds into Root Trainers. That done, I retreated to the Green House with the Root Trainers and stowed them onto one of the benches where, hopefully, in about 10 days or so I will see the shoots of the Sweetpeas poking out of the Compost.
The Flock of Sparrow that use the Climbing Roses and Ivy down by the Wlidlife pond seem to be foraging into the countryside, despite the 7 Bird Feeders, and then returning in the late afternoon. That has meant that the Coal Tits and Blue Tits have been able to feed in peace all day and they've been busy doing just that.
This "warm" mild, wet weather has meant that there is still plenty of plants growing on and the Clematis seem to be getting longer and thicker every day, while the Clematis "Royal Wedding" is flowering for the second time this year.
With the impending news of a English full Lock Down I'm glad I've got in enough stocks of organic fertilisers, compost, and new plants ready for next year. I've got enough jobs in the garden to keep me busy whenever I get the opportunity to get into the garden between the weather and work, to last me well beyond the next 5 or 6 weeks.:hapydancsmil::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Dug the Ensete maurii out of its barrel today I am expecting they maybe some proper frost coming next week which would see it off, cut all the leaves off and now its stood upside down in the Greenhouse draining water out, I'll put it in a bag after and bring it inside over winter. Also potted up a little colocasia which I am having a think about how I would like to keep it over winter dry it out or keep it ticking over :noidea:. I grow some begonia Santa cruz from seed earlier this year can't believe how big the tubers are for just one season, I'll be keeping them for next year and I'll grow more begonia seeds next year, they are in the GH drying out at the moment before I bag them up for winter storage.

Spent a couple of hours sweeping and raking up leaves two and a bit dumpy bags full, then the weather turned wet and the wind returned.

Up at my mums to see her and finish sorting her bit of garden before Thursday lockdown kicks in as she can't manage it on her own.

It's been a mammoth job over the last couple of months with my brothers helping and Dave helping too. Today I got bark chippings and out it down over heavy duty weed suppressant so hopefully it will keep the weeds at bay. There's also the little greenhouse up and stones for it are down and the little potting table is in.

If its not wet tomorrow I will be back and clearing another section. I'll be digging up some plants and potting them up. The plan is to then put a load of weed suppressant etc down to kill off the area over the winter. It'll then have a couple of raised beds in the new year for mum to grow veggies as we think that patch will be sunny.

I'm wondering if anyone has any plant suggestions for the back under the shade of the neighbours awful tree. Mum loves bright colours so any idea?

I've been chucking Coconut Coir bricks in buckets of water, mix this with my own compost plus Perlite and I'm good to go in Spring (Can't come soon enough for us all)
Oh and cooked a Roast Chicken, Roast Parsnips and Two Veg for the three of us.

How much light does the area get and soil conditions ? how tall do you want the plants to grow looks quite a depth the border.

I think that's a pine tree @Snorky85 ? I have five in a circle and nothing deep rooted will grow there so I've turned it into a sort of woodland plant area. Spring bulbs - Snowdrops (Galanthus Nivalis), Crocus, Iris Reticulata, Chionodoxa and I'm yet to add Daffodils. I have wild Primroses that will flower right through Spring and will add other plants as time goes on, Hellebores, Anemones etc.

It varies from fairly bright in the early morning, quite shady 10:30/11am to dappled shade later in the day. And it's dry shade.
My grandma had planted hollies but they all grew "leggy" because there wasn't enough light. But there had also been a massive cherry tree where the greenhouse was and another birch tree in that area, so now it should get more light.

i like the idea of spring bulbs-i'll put some of those it.
I read a gardeners world article that said hydrangeas do well in shade but I didn't think that was right?!?

i'll take some more pics tomorrow so you can see the depth of that section.
