Actually, a Spanish (classical) guitar would get you started. I picked one up for my grandson from a charity shop. Cost me a tenner

:star: They are fantastic but I particularly like the Armadillo, the Cat and the fun Monkey. Not so keen on the food ... but I have never been fond of still life.

Your drawings are excellent @Sian in Belgium , they must take ages to complete. You have a great talent.

I do a bit of sketching now and then, but nothing very spectacular. Here are a few I did for an art forum I belong to ...

Red panda done with coloured pencils :-

                  117770811_851318328736942_8146626865947745913_o.jpg

Sunflower done with watercolour pencils :-

                  Sunflower.jpg

Two Teddies drawn on a scrap of paper ... :-

                  Teddies.jpg

They were mine when I was little lol. They live in a wardrobe and come out every Christmas to sit in a basket with tinsell around them :)

Mouse also on a scrap of paper :-

                  001 (4).jpg

An old church near here done with watercolour paints :-

                  Cilybebyll (3).jpg

Another old local church done with graphite pencils :-

                  Eglwys Llangiwg.jpg

I have many more on half but I can't seem to build up any enthusiasm to finish them.

Thank you so much, Michael! Generally, a drawing can take between 6-10 hours - for example this one I’ve just finished...
                    ABC18A7C-0904-40A5-B1B2-E67BAF3947E4.jpeg
However, the Inktober drawings are all started and finished in the same day, so take between 1.5 (eg the daisy) and 5 hours (the sleeping snake). I do seem to speed up though, as the back-to-back drawing takes effect...

I can so relate to that. I started to do a detailed study of an elephant back in 2016, on a bigger sheet of paper, but after a few weeks I lost momentum. It’s difficult to finish it now, as my style has developed so much in the meantime.

                    Thank you! (Blushing here!)

@Sian in Belgium What a darling bunny. Your elephant reminds me of a painting I started in the early 80s before I had even visited Portugal and I lost momentum. Then here on GC in 2006 we start an "art thread" for those of us interested over the winter. We would show how far we were and others would critique. I finished the painting ... which is very reminiscent of southern Portuguese coves.

                      Algarve Cove e.JPG

... and now I look at it 14 years later I could make more changes.

Edit: Just found the original on here from 2006 ...

Sian, you are going from strength to strength. As Victoria, my favourite was the Armadillo, incredible work. Also Michaels pencil drawings are superb :dbgrtmb:
