What really gets me is. The Blind value some put on their lives.

They are more concerned about thw festive season, despite so many treat it as just a very expensive and wasteful event, rather than heeding warnins regarding the preservation of their life.

This is the thing - none of it seems to be working, and it seems that their measures are targeting pubs and restaurants. Anyone with a nose on their face can see the link to schools, and it was even mentioned in an article on Sky News app this morning that cases are rising faster in 10 to 19 year olds in the London area than any other group or area. It is only weeks ago that they were denying that kids could catch it.

I think the thing is Mike, there are loads of people out there having to go about their daily business, meeting lots and lots of people every day, and some have right from the start of it all way back in March.
They then get told they cant meet a relative or walk down a busy street.

Common sense tells you they are not going to abide by the rules.

I agree with @Fat Controller , its the schools that are the heart of the problem, not their fault, just the way kids are, super spreaders of any bug going around usually.

But they wont shut the schools because that shuts down almost everything else.

From local news site - let's see if Mark gives priority to peoples health rather than being popular.

Ministers from the devolved administrations will meet with UK cabinet office minister Michael Gove this afternoon to discuss next week’s relaxation of coronavirus rules over Christmas.

Snap poll this morning on the TV - 65% of people will follow the Government guidance around relaxing the Xmas rules. I wonder if people would walk off a cliff if they were told that it's OK to do so by the Government? What sort or people knowingly put their family at risk?

The sort of people over here who are champing at the bit to get to the UK because they're missing their families. And vice versa.....and so it goes on........
Then there are a lot of europeans for whom it's simply unthinkable that they can't get together for Christmas and New Year. Sadly, nothing a government or anyone else says will change their minds.

The reason they will not shut schools, is they are providing a baby sitting
                service for the workers

Which suggests the situation is not as dire as they are making out.

One of the myriads of experts that keep turning up on the TV, a new day a new expert, said, that if they dont change the plan for over Christmas, hospitals will be full to capacity in the new year and if you have covid you wont get proper care and if you have anything else you wont get any care.

Now I'm still wondering if the mythical Nightingale Hospitals were actually for real, or just another publicity stunt.
Because where were all the staff going to come from.

If it's the 10 to 19 year olds who are spreading the virus and they won't shut schools , are they working on a vaccine that this age group can take which is safe ?

Hospitals are generally full to capacity at this time of year anyway, so nothing new there, the only thing that has changed is the branding. I don't believe the 'full to capacity' figure either to be blunt. The units that are respiratory wards including ICU's almost certainly are up to capacity as they always are at this time of year, but what about all those other wards? The NHS are doing very little in the way of 'normal' stuff (I know someone who has had to go private to have a knee replacement because the wait on the NHS was extended so much - - and he is a retired GP!) so what is happening with all of those wards and staff?

Riddle me this - what size (number of beds) is your local hospital? Mine has 550 beds - - are we to believe that they have literally hundreds of in-patients that have Covid?

They have a planned capacity (let's say 30 ICU beds, and 80 ward beds) and once they reach that level they are full. The rest of the building will be like a ghost town, but for the purposes of the statistic they are full.

I'm not for one second saying that there isn't a virus going around (I work with two people who currently have it) and I am not for one second saying that it is not a nasty one because it clearly is. The lies and the inconsistency however is a real issue and a lot of folk are at the point they have so little trust in the government and NHS that they are sceptical of everything, including the vaccine.

Which is bad, I agree - - it isn't full though, and generally at this time of year (well, more January I suppose) those hospitals would be running in the high 90% range.
