    Hi,

Wondered if anyone has some rooted cuttings or young plants of trailing Fuchsias for Sale + P&P as our baskets have lost a few this year.

The ones you can buy from the usual stockist are not delivered until April/May and its so late in the year before they get to any decent size.

Sometimes you do see plug Fuchsias in Garden Centers in late January, but a bit doubtful if there will be any around this time with the Covid.

We have Swingtime, Snowburner, Voodoo and Marcus Graham, but looking for a few new varieties like Deep Purple, Bi Centineial, Cecile etc.

We have greenhouse heat and lighting so can readliy grow on any young plants.

I agree with you on the time basis. Sadly I can't help out. In fact I lost my entire stock/collection of over 400 varieties due to poor health. Have you approached any of the main growers. I used to deal with Potash Nursery when owned by Jim Puddiffoot, he sold out but I've heard good reports about the new owner. Are you a member of the BFS?

        Hi @Mike Allen

Have looked at the main Fuchsia advertisers, but they all say from April onwards.

Not a member of the BFS, though we only want a few different trailing varieties.

More a post aimed at anyone like us who start their cuttings off early under heat and light and have some excess to sell.

Shame about your Fuchsia collection , though keeping 400 + going must be a mammoth task for anyone young or old !

Sounds like you need an under gardener, so you can sit in the greenhouse with a cuppa and enjoy the flowers after the hard work has been done for you ..:)

I’d like to help you out, but the only ones I’ve saved this year are small uprights, which are now dormant. Good luck

Yes, I was unfortunate. I began a collection with the idea of setting up my own nursery. The list at one time totalled 400 and I had at least 10 stock plants of each. I was more for gtowing than cultvating. To cultivate such a large number would have been a full time job. Sadly at the start, acres of greenhouses were going up. Suddenly the Dutch were buying up British nurseries. Many still advertise in the papers. East Anglia was a much desired area. Then rising fuel costs hit the industry, the outgoing expence couldn't be covered by production. Hence a day out in the country and one would see rows and rows of abandoned greenhouses. For the likes of myself, no way could I afford such a vast outlay, and locally, local planning said NO to nurseries. So for a time, where I worked, there many of my plants also went. In time, due to poor health, my stock gradually dwindled. My collection of standards, despite many being hardy varieties, these needed winter protection. I was unable to cope. I still prefer the older varieties. Rickey give it a go. Drop a line to a few of the big growers, be honest with them and explain your ambition. I am sure they will come up trumps.
