They have all been de-seeded, necessary as the genus, are multi producers and would cause the species to likely take over the whole garden...one way or another.:cat-kittyandsmiley:

        Dead easy to grow.

Mine (called Hitler) watched me build the bench, and the first time I left the door on the jar,

        he was in.

As I don't have a greenhouse, I guess a sunny windowsill, under a radiator would do; indeed, any sheltered warm spot, I should imagine.
Thank you BF for showing us your lovely cat too.
Not only do I have greenhouse envy, I now have cat envy!

One day, one day I will win the lottery, buy a smallholding and have lots of rescue animals. I guess many think like I.

Don't know his age. Had him nearly 4 years now. Found him in a Gin trap (totally illegal, see pic)
I released his paw from the trap and he shot off. Spotted him two weeks later in my back hedge.
He hobbled with his paw straight out in front, hence the name Hitler. All his ribs protruded from his body.
Many tins of pilchards soaked into bread later and he's now my putty cat.

The pic of the trap seemed to have stopped this thread in its tracks.
Perhaps I should add that his paw healed completely and the only scar so to speak
is his teeth. His two top canines now point at slightly differing angles and one is chipped,
I suspect from chewing the trap chain which pegged the trap to the ground. Doesn't stop
him crunching mice & birds or his fave "Dreamies" biscuits. Nine lives? He still has eight.

Our gardens are metaphorically a bed of roses. Shame the same can't be said about some
                    of the people around us.

Little update and some advice needed.
I started off some different types of chillies in the propagator a few days ago. I had them inside and the heat felt good on the soil. But not having the space for a large propagator my plan was to put it at the back of my garage in the window.

been in there since last night and when I’ve checked it just now the soil is cold and not much heat inside. (Guessing because the garage is so cold)

is the propagator worth keeping or would I be better buying a heater for my greenhouse and using that to start all my chillies off.

I kept my chilli plants in the house until the night time temps were touching 10°c, about late April. They will not survive January etc in an unheated greenhouse.

I always just start my seeds inside during cold weather as they really don't use up much room. :noidea:

That's an expensive way to grow chillies

I grow lots of chillies (I sell the plants for charity) but always do similar to @HarryS . I sow them indoors, pot them on as necessary and only put them into the greenhouse (in a 5ft x 3ft heated propagator) in April. By late May, when I start selling them, they're in flower and producing chillies. The last two plants are being picked up today and are still producing but have survived well in the propagator.

A lot of seedlings of fairly hardy plants are in the propagator so it's worthwhile keeping the propagator switched on. Heating a greenhouse at this time of year seems an expensive way to go. My propagator is protected form the cold by the greenhouse to some extent but is big enough to retain its heat well. The heating element is buried in 6" deep sand and gravel and there's a sheet of plastic as the cover.
