Ok so now the virus, new variant, is not only more infections but also possibly slight more likely to kill you.

And now doubts about the government 12week gap between injections.

Does anyone else think they keep showing us the carrot and then keep snatching it away.
We appear to be getting nowhere.

Next likely problem will be that the other variants will become dominant and we will need a new vaccine.

I think we have to accept that the Covid epidemic will be an ever changing situation, and needs to be constantly reviewed. It's likely that Covid, as Flu, will mutate and new vaccinations will be needed. Also as other nations vaccination plans get up to speed the supply from the two manufacturers will become erratic. So to maintain the 400k jabs per day is possibly the best we can maintain.

I'm just wondering if the vaccine is behind the game, unlike the flu vaccine which is ahead of the virus every year.

Just see a situation coming up where millions vaccinated but the vaccine not working on the current new strain in 4 months time.

If possible, I get my shots in my belly. I don't use it for anything so even if it is sore after, it doesn't stop me getting on with my day. :blue thumb:

Well, although the Covid 19 virus is still, in many respects, a "unknown" to Scientists so there are many "unknown unknowns" it's impossible to say until they get more experience and data on it.
The Flu virus's first vaccine was created in the 1940's and so we know a good deal about it and medical science made such advances that new updated vaccines are more easily created. Perhaps one thing the Covid 19 virus seems to have done is to greatly accelerate even more advances and that might lead to more advances with the Flu too.:dunno:

Always thinking positive, pete:heehee: I don't think any of the Scientists are denying that further variants of Covid 19 might mean an updating of the vaccine.........but I've not heard any give it any time line, especially as brief as within 4 months.:dunno:

Our medical gurus are saying the newer faster sreading strains are not as deadly. Anyone else heard this?

We in the UK were told that last week, then yesterday they announced it is 30% more dangerous than the original

My only thinking was that within 4 months the S. African or the Brazilian variants could easily be prevalent in Europe, including the UK.
And they seem to think the vaccine might not work on those variants.

Percent's are a funny thing. The death rate from Covid is 10 per 1000. The new variant death rate is 13 per 1000. So the death rate is increased by 30%. But the death rate overall increases by 3/1000 about 0.3%. Not good news, but not the 30% that makes good headlines.

For some reason, in these black days, bad, negative news or statements seem to be more readily accepted and, in a strange way, relished rather than any good news that now seems to be viewed with suspicion and disbelief. All the figures/estimates issued for some Covid news are either two weeks behind due to the nature of the stats collecting beast, or an approximate figure because it's impossible to get really exact figures but it's the best to be had.

Just my observation. I believe this virus to be continually building itself up, and boosting these variants. I consider the scientist have done a fantastic job, but harder times and so much faster testing, research and hopefully good results will appear. This Covid-19 as it has been named, is another variant of rhe Sars virus, and sadly we couldn't eradicate that. So whatever way we look at it. We have a very long fight ahead of us.

Concerning our NHS. I have this thought. Just how much more can our medics take? Time the government set up some kind of auxillary nursing system. During the war, we had the AFS. Auxillary fire service. We have special constables. There are so many folk out there who would love to help, but it needs arranging.

                              Stay Safe folks.

Statistics: How many of us did not get it or survived in spite of it is what is important! Keep clean, keep control and carry on. My motto.

I have had to visit hospitals, clinics and surgeries multiple times per week and kept this pestilence from invading my home so for most of us, really, it isn't that hard if one just uses common sense and good hygiene.

EDIT: Yes: I do care about those who have died but from what I've read, most are only inconveniened by a quarantine and that is the sum of their complaints.
