    Webshop for unusual succulents

** Corona-virus-warning: only order if the postal service in your country is still delivering**

***Also: do not order when there is (night) frost in your area ***

**Due to Brexit and changed VAT-rules, I can, for the time being, no longer send parcels to the UK. Sorry about that, but the additional administration involved just isn't worth it**

Just seen the above on the website of a small Dutch nursery I sometimes use.
That sums the Brexit deal up for me.

I'm still waiting for a fruit-tree order from Chris Bowers, placed a few months ago  Assuming they would have said at time of ordering if there was likely to be a problem. It would have made sense for them to send it before the end of the year, though.
Have had feedback from local Brits who regularly send or receive parcels to/from UK, and customs duty/extra admin fees are being applied, even when they shouldn't be.
Having said that, if there's anything you really want, I can forward it on to you, @NigelJ :)

@noisette47 Thank you for the offer.
I ordered some plants from Chris Bowers at the end of October and am still waiting. They did say the order would be dispatched Oct to Dec, however my thought was that the mild autumn had delayed dormancy and hence lifting.

Franchi (AKA Seeds of Italy) are no longer able to send their seeds to .... Italy!

"- We are no longer able to ship seeds to any EU countries due to brexit
          - We are not able to ship seeds to N.Ireland due to brexit
          - Our physical Harrow store will be closed to the public in January due to high covid rages so we can concentrate on sending mail orders out UK wide (except NI)"

Don't know what "high covid rages" are, maybe something to do with Covidiots or Piers Corbyn (or Morgan?) perhaps?

Hehe- no, they are not going to "ban" it, it's just a possibility that they consider another language to be the official one for the general purpose. Just like French is the official international language in post, Greek in medicine and so on. List of official languages by institution - Wikipedia

The thing with languages in the EU is quite convenient and funny from my perspective. All my official documents like birth certificate are in Finnish. When I was living in a non- EU country I had to pay through my nose to get some documentation officially translated before it was accepted. When moving back to EU it was a delightful doddle to just hand them over in Finnish- any EU state had to accept them as they were.

I could even have asked for all official communication such as my tax papers in the UK to be sent in Finnish  A bit silly, but the point is to treat all languages in the union as equals. That's quite a nice and respectful approach. :)

They're going to have a hard time doing that as English has been a global, international, language used in every area of commerce, security, air/sea travel, etc. I think it's more of a fake news, controversial headline.:dunno:

Our Birth certificates, Marriage Certificate had to be translated for our application to there Health System. We had a short list of Official Translators which we had to use. Expensive but necessary.
Other documents have not been requested in French. I guess it varies to what the application is for. We came over with our S.1 which made our life very smooth..The amount of copies you have to do along the way is still mind blowing..

British companies are now being advised to set up an EU office to sort deliveries. Can’t believe that with a deal the customs stuff is so onerous and troublesome

I'm guessing it's because we are not in the customs union anymore.

I would have thought it would mean that, regarding customs, the procedure is the same as sending goods to any non EU country .

But just wondering if the EU might be making us a special case, if you get my meaning.

Well, it probably not the wishes of the UK and European Companies that it is so as they wish to make every thing easy and cheaper, so you can only look in one direction and that is the EU Bureaucrats still stinging over not being able to bring the UK to heel.

By some accounts it’s harder for both sides to trade and harder than trading with anywhere else in the world! Pathetic from both the EU and our government not to sort this as all it does is hurt everybody. I hate bureaucrats.

Sometimes it is better to be small and nimble. Come and join us Viktor.

Mr Orban weighed into the debate surrounding the UK’s approval of a COVID-19 vaccine made by Pfizer and BioNTech, in a world first in the race for a jab.

He said it was thanks to Britain’s decision to leave the EU that it had achieved such a massive feat, ahead of the 27-member bloc.

Mr Orban said: "Those who have left [the EU] go their own way, look for their own solutions, and can improve their health and protect the lives of its citizens faster than we who stayed [in the EU].”

Mr Orban called this a "slap in the face" for the EU.
