Just an FYI. Because of new variants, today my granddaughter had to have two separate tests for Covid. I'm guessing there are two different labs that the swabs go to and that is why the duplicate.

I'm so happy folks, I had a phone call from my Surgery to confirm my first Vaccine Jab will be this Thursday.

Is it just me, but some of those you see doing the jabs on the TV look a bit ham-fisted how they go about it.
Its not just a quick in, push the plunger and out, but they seem to wobble about when pushing the plunger.:yikes::biggrin:

My Sister who lives in Wem, Shropshire, was given an appointment for the Jab, 3 or more weeks ago to a Hospital 15 miles away. She is over 80 years old, has no car and the Public Transport is near enough zero and her Cleaner, in the end, took her only to find that it was a wasted journey because the Pfizer and Moderna injections were not suitable for her and so she didn't have one.
Since then she's been waiting for a NHS letter giving her another appointment, which she got a couple of days ago, though not stating what type of Vaccine it was going to be, to another Hospital even further away from the first Hospital she was asked to go to.
Since that letter appointment was obviously a struggle for her to attend she rang the NHS Helpline to get further help and advice. Although the NHS Person was very friendly the only advice given was to ring her GP, (who is several miles outside of Town). She'd already been in contact with the GP several times which had led to the first Jab appointment but she rang the GP again and spoke with the Receptionist explaining the problem, and how difficult it was to get to a distant Hospital and even the Surgery, who said she would ring her back. The Receptionist kept her promise with the good news that the Surgery was going to receive Five phials of the Astro Zeneca vaccine this Friday and that the Nurse would make a Home visit the same day to give the Jab..........which is a relief for my Sister and myself. But it show that some Counties are still struggling to make sure that elderly people get the correct jab within an easy distance to travel

Well my free government issue vitamin D tablets have arrived. These one a day tablets assist your immune system. I have been taking vitamin D since early December. So the supply I have will take me through to when we next see the sun again this August. :)

                        Hi Jenny
I bought vitamin D3 capsules with a strength of 1000 IU ( international units)
The ones I received from the NHS are D3 tablets at 400 IU, so I would take two of them. As far as I can tell the adult dosage is from 400 to 2000 IUs max. Looking it up on google is tricky as some sites use different measuring units. Also it is recommended to take them in the morning as it can effect your sleep.
The free D3 is supplied to people who are shielding. I did get a letter from the NHS in November to apply.
Get vitamin D supplements if you're at high risk from coronavirus (COVID-19)

hmm a lot of variation in dosage from the NHS 400 IUs to 4 or 5 thousand IUs. I'll stick with the 1000 IUs for now. The constant sunny days we get in Wigan will also boost my D3! :heehee:
