Little update on hydros : the cucumbers are now also flowering, beans are full full of flowers and looks like butternut may flower soon.

Just been looking at the above link and disappointed to see your stories about your cloudy aquarium water.

You really need to use some means of filtering your tap water to remove the excess calcium etc.
You could use the cheaper deionising resins or a more expensive Reverse Osmosis units (sub £100) or even purchase bottles of RO water from many aquatic shops.
These methods will remove almost everything from the water , but there are pre prepared solutions you can use to put back the essentials the water needs for your tanks health.

You can find lots of good advice in this forum which is geared to tanks with plants and fish, though it covers all aspect from simple tanks to some very complex ones.

It is actually a historical account of how I went through the process of learning how to get that crystal clear water and beautiful plants that I so wanted. Its a story from rookie beginning to getting to a nice setup, my personal experience of when things go wrong and how just about everyone supposedly knew what I had to do, but in the end very few actually understand the basics. I learned also that many people in these forums supposedly are experts, whereas they don't get the basics of science.
