So, Politics, dislike of the UK, money, and bureaucratic incompetence come before peoples lives and can be excused no matter what. That sound like Trump when he said, while in New York, that he could shoot anyone on the street and get away with it.........no wonder the UK wanted to leave the EU.

I'll say 'goodnight' now. I do enjoy a reasoned exchange of views and a civilized debate, but as that's obviously not possible on this thread, I'll be sticking to gardening topics from now on. It is a shame, really, as there are probably members on GC who appreciate insights into the realities of life elsewhere in the world. Rather than media propaganda :)

I am very aware that dairy foods are not permitted into France from a non EU Country..hope that is correct certainly said about from the UK into France recently..There was a lot of talking about this in our Connection newspaper, online which anybody can view if you do a search for it or I can put up a link..... a typical newspaper of our times though, highlighting headliners.....Then last evening I was looking at our local animal charity store that advertises some of their stocks availability then I saw they had this..copied and pasted.....yes we have had a delivery of cheddar from Ireland...vintage and extra mature 350gm blocks. Each 6.50€.:catapult:
:oops:Obviously expensive but the point is Ireland can do or have done what others can't..Guess of course it's because they are in the EU still, and can import anything as before...just managed to answer my own question now...

Irish cheddar comes from Southern Ireland I believe.
But as it stands I think even Northern Ireland is pretty much still considered part of the EU regarding trade.

Not understanding about Northern Ireland, Mr. W and I was saying earlier because we have avoided reading to much on the Politics Issues we just have buried our heads a tad.
I was not thinking Irish Cheese either had my brain firmly in Cheddar Land Somerset.

The mess with the EU is really quite tedious. One day we can trade our goods as we share standards but the next day, despite still working to the exact same standards the goods are suddenly not good enough for the EU market and are subject to additional checks.
Macron was sounding off yesterday telling us what we had to do in choosing some allies (we have but he doesn't agree), there was some more dripping about Brexit and the vaccines too but really it's just diversionary drivel from his own issues in France and the EU bloc.
Why they have to get nasty to the UK and NI just because they have mucked about and signed contracts months later than anyone else is a mystery. Just get on with sorting your own back yard!

Its just another case of EU meddling in member countries affairs.
Had they just let each country sort things out for themselves many countries would be in a better position than they find themselves now.

The EU think they are wonderful, but they take too long to sort themselves out, they waffle and do nothing, its their way.
Too much talk and not enough action.

They have had for a long time to Spain and I am sure there are already to France also. But that is Ireland not Northern Ireland.

The way the EU has behaved over the last few days is nothing short of diabolical. It makes me wonder how many EU member countries are thinking "maybe being in this EU thingy isn't such a good idea after all"

It’s bonkers! So blinkered and hypocritical. I really do want the uk and eu to sort a streamlined customs process ASAP though, as it stands bucket loads of cash is leaking to the eu just so the uk can keep trading there. Not sure if the reciprocal is true??
