Just more bullshit Gismo, they will have us all in burkas by the end of the year.
If it was London it was probably Sadiq Khan's idea.

I saw something the other day saying you should now wear two, on on top of the other.

Not sure if you can blame the government for covid mistakes.
If they'd locked down too soon, Piers Corbyn and other loonies would have demonstrated... (they did actually as soon as the lockdown was started)
If they lift some of the restrictions, Keir Starmer complains it should be locked down and stay locked down.
It don't matter what your politics are, this virus was never gonna be an easy fix, and they would have needed a crystal ball to do better.
          Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Many thanks for your reply. Every one has a opinion about how the government has handled covid since it started.
I wonder what people would say about the government who lost their loved ones to this virus
In my opinion the government has made mistakes through out you don't have to be a political person to know.

But anyway I was trying to find out about what mask is suitable apart from n95

When they first brought in mask wearing we were told it has no benefit to the person wearing it, it is there for the protection of others.
It is not a "mask" but a "face covering", and any form of face covering can be worn to protect others.

                @Gizmo
The real problem is, Gizmo, is that nobody on this Planet knew what Covid was or could do, but that is forgotten in the need to blame someone and divert individual responsibility anywhere but on themselves.

I'll disagree with that, pete. Over the months, as we learnt more and more about
Covid, preventative methods, new and more effective ways of treating Covid patients, Masks are not just face coverings but designed to reduce the Wearer's ability to pass on the Virus by coughing, exhalation, etc. Improvised face coverings were offered up by some people as being equally effective and, in general, they are not, and Scientific research has proven that beyond doubt.
There are different grades of Masks but the latest Scientific opinions are that multi-layer Masks are the best, which is why you will see some of the Medical Staff, and others, who have been given single layer Masks will wear another Mask to give the multi-layer effect. But you can get multi-layer Masks without having to wear two Masks at once.
Some people seem to think that all the different Governments, Scientists, Medical Authorities should have, from the very start, been able to open a magic book and tell everyone what the Covid Virus was, what it could do, and then give you, and me, exact, fine, word for word instructions on what to do and how to do it. Well, nobody knew and we've had to learn the Hard Way with innumerable loss of Life, mistakes being made and having to learn from real, raw, experience.
But, let's face, even if correct, detailed, scientific facts had been known from the start and that information was given out by Governments, Scientists, Medical Authorities, there would be so many people telling you that that was incorrect and that, in fact, their opinion on everything COVID was correct and nobody else's.:wallbanging:

I'm only quoting what we were told and I'm yet to hear anything officially that things have changed.
Some people still just wear a scarf around there mouth and nose and as far as I know that is still considered sufficient.
Medical staff are something different, and definitely need more protection as in their case they are mostly there to protect the wearer rather than the patient.

As to the government being behind the game, they are still playing catch up, and from a week on Monday people coming into the country will have to isolate in a hotel.
How long has it taken for them to get off their backsides and sort that one out?

Big rush expected next week with people trying to get in, in order to avoid that enforced isolation.

Okay, I have to disagree. There was this guy way back, riding a horse, with a face covering that didn't cover his nostrils or mouth.

Guesss that's why he only had one companion and they called him the Lone Ranger! I believe his other name was the MASKED man. Right kimosabe? :heehee:

And @pete you're right, at the beginning we were also told (following WHO advice) that masks would not change the spread significantly. There was no qualifications attached to that statement.

I make my own (2 layers of cotton) and also have 3 ply disposable ones in the car in case I forget to bring one along. I also have several on the front table for added insurance.

I do recall that every demonstration of expiration penetrating non N95 masks was done using a,wide open mouthed sneezing model. I don't know about over there, but here it is rude to sneeze without covering your mouth with your elbow. So even that would have a dramatic effect. ;)

Thank you for your replys oh a political thread? With masks yes we are using ones that are 3 layer cloth so there are washed regularly but according to the news they was asking people in London to up grade there masks on eg tubes etc I would have thought that why only on tube trains etc why not every where this is why I was asking about type of mask?

                            Government or not?
In my opinion from what I have seen in the news that the government had a 6 week window from China about this virus.
There has been failed ppe. Testing. Close boarders. Coming in by plane from another country.shall we as government keep schools shut or closed. With issues of children you cannot expect young children to understand that they cannot play with there friends in playground.
They advised you can exercise. Shop etc then they complain about parks. Beach etc over crowded no social distancing but alot people go out for even exercise you can't say only eg 5 people are only allowed in a park or on a beach at a time. They could not put a limit on people. You see not only normal people getting fines for covid issues but also mps and professional people as well eg police. NHS staff.
There where care home issues with covid as people saw there loved ones. Then they advised not to shake hands kiss make love etc instead they advised on self love. Why has rishi sunaks wife who is richer than the queen furlough there staff which tax payers money when you have poverty every where. Put up benefits carers allowance by £1.00. Other benefits 0.30pence a week in covid and then take it back on things like fuel duty etc it's a discrace No wonder people are jumping off places like beachy head over mental health issues where there is no support. Government wanted to bring in 3 million people from China to live in the UK
What has got me up is that matt hankcock said and the government saying that people with no symptoms are passing covid on so why are people being refused a covid test
I was refused my self by 119 which is covid help line? Which would have been my 5th test since May 2020.
You see on the eg news about mistakes they give different advice
It keeps getting reported government don't take notice of sage.
All though the who is in China to find out where and how covid escaped to infect the world. After vaccine how will people react to not only China but to the people in the UK from China. Riots. More killings. Etc
