I think its part of the governments fear campaign, I really think they have underestimated the effect it has had on some people, and probably will have for years to come.

approx 2 miles from my house...........I can see the queue from here. I might just join it soon.

So many mistakes have been made by the government. Why oh why oh why have we let people keep coming into the country through the airports etc with no restrictions being followed up??? The words horse, door, barn, bolted and shut come to mind, not necessarily in that order.

As for masks, surely every single thing we can do no matter how small to protect ourselves and others has got to be worth doing?
Ive been pretty much too scared to go out for nearly a year (3or4 times) and nobody has been in my house. No social conversation for just as long. I do believe my marbles are starting to pack their suitcase in preparation for leaving.
I blame not only the government but most of all I blame the selfish rule breakers. Parties still being broken up for goodness sake. Fines DONT work because people dont pay them. Start jailing repeat offenders. That'll give them pause for thought.

@Gizmo why do you say Not N95 ?

There may be fake ones around but they do seem quiet cheap generally.

Also think a lot of the problems are for how long you use them and if you keep re-using / taking the same one on and off.

Do have to ask why are you wondering now ? what have you been using for the last year ? Assume they must have been effective as you have not had the plague.

While the shops do seem to have sanitizers as you go in, whenever we come out we use some more as surely its your hands that will have picked up any bugs.
Same with the items you buy, we give them a clean before putting in the cupboard etc.

With the problems you and your wife have, as mentioned in your other posts, are you not eligible for the vaccination yet ?

@Gizmo I too think the way @ThePlantAssassin does.

I really believe that a good quality mask of two layers or more is adequate in most circumstances. Perhaps they are thinking of people who are crammed into buses and other public transit where your chances of breathing someone else's exhales is mulitiplied a hundred times over what it is where distancing can be achieved.:noidea:

That is why I don't understand anyone wanting to get in a big flying tube with people from all over! :rolleyespink:

Agree, though even more bizarre is all the older folk booking to go on cruises, they say they must have had both jabs, but it still does not mean you cannot get it.

Same with all the holiday companies advertising spring and summer hols around the world as if its going to be safe by then, doubt it will be for many folk, perhaps for fit young families, though seems the new variants are after them as well.

Thing is with holidays most people plan ahead, they dont just say, lets go tomorrow.
I assume they are booking with money back guarantees.

Who wants to go on holiday and spend it with a mask on all the time.

That's going to be in the new guidelines, at the moment swimming is not allowed.

Well the reason why I was asking about masks was I saw on the news about London tubes etc and mutant strains of covid.
They said to up grade masks to high grade mask. as cloth masks don't protect from mutant strain.
So my question would be why only London. Yes London has tubes etc but how many people wear cloth masks in the UK. With n95 I did buy some last year they cost betwee £200 / £300 for 20 I thought expensive but you can't put a price on life so I bought them a while after I got a email saying the masks was not n95 but ffp3 so they had to be distroyed I got the money back but that's not the point they wear miss labeled up.
So if cloth masks don't help with mutant strains. N95 are expensive what do you wear if you have breathing issues eg asthma. Copd. Bronchiectasis.
                          A hasamat suit?????

To be honest, with all this swirl of Media fact and fiction I think we sometimes tend to over think things. Wash your hands, keep a social distance, and wear a good quality Mask properly and don't talk yourself into anxiety beyond what we are already suffering.
