@Snorky85 I wish I could hand you a piece of my fudge. It would probably do the trick!

I only watered my indoor growing area and gave the orchids an ice cube each.

It is still pretty cold out there but not as bad as north of me where it is -32c. Don't know what that is in Fahrenheit :noidea:

Went to start pruning the apple tree today. It is above the chicken run and need to replace their roof, so need to do it before I re do roof. Got the new roof, but it was far too cold for garden work. With wind chill, I think it was about -5. The outside tap has frozen so I had to fill chooks water in kitchen. Stupidly I didn’t screw the bottom on correctly and ended up with 3 litres of water all over the floor and feet, then I somehow broke the mop when I tried to clean it up. Not a good start to the day.

I ventured up to the compost bin, lid was frozen! Brute force and a few hefty wacks soon had the lid loosened. The rest of my gardening today and probably for the rest of the week will be done in my head as I stare forlornly out of the windows

Being sub zero outside, I'm obviously doing things indoors.

Started soaking my sweet peas. And will be making a bunch of soil blocks in which to sow them.

Right now I am cutting out the catalogue pictures of seeds I ordered. More seed packets these days seem to have a "generic" picture on the packet along with the description and I find it so much nicer to have packets with pics of the actual plant. I just started doing that this year as I just plain hadn't thought of it before now!

It was subzero here too, @CanadianLori, with us getting a high of -3c. (The only bird feeder that I left out overnight was frozen solid, and unopenable for all of today!).

All I did today was to try to get a path along the drive, up to the road. I’d scraped the snow off yesterday, but more snow overnight had frozen to form black ice. So I had to clear a second path up the drive! Between doing that, clearing the pavement, and feeding the birds, I’ve had a workout!

Nothing outside but brought in some compost, small pots and will sow some sweet pea sees with the kids. also bought some coir compost in a block as a tester, it’s quite fun watching it expand so much!
Also separated some coffee plants into individual pots (wife has complained at number of plants now...)

I actually did five minutes in the garden. With the forecast of impending doom regarding low temps, I brought a few thing that were under cover into the house. A couple of musas, sikkimensis and dijiao now will get mollycoddled for the rest of the winter and a chlorophytum comosum so as to get an early start with the runners for summer bedding. I looked at the dicksonia squarrosa and thought, thirty litre pot.....you'll be fine:noidea:
