@Upsydaisy ,..when they are out and about as soon as i spot one i freeze,..as they have poor eyesight they only notice my being there when rubbing a nose against the camera or sniffing my shoe,..they ignore the kittens and the kittens are just bewildered at what they are seeing,..i should say i only have one feline now.

Well, thank you Philip, that was a wonderful start to the day. Like Upsy, I too am surprised how tame the hedgehog was (and well fed I noted)! And the beautiful cats, all so calm and well behaved enjoying watching the interloper.

What is that beautiful shrub please? I know I should know it, something scented?

@Victoria ,..its a thrill just standing still while one of them wanders around me,..of course its main interest is food,..i must gather up all my images of them to make a video.

That shrub you asked about is Cytisus scoparus Broom,..common name is Scotch Broom though there are many and the blooms differ from all yellow bloom to ones with a dash of red,..mine had an equal amount of red and yellow in the bloom,..easy to keep as it manages well on dry soil,..sandy soils,..and poor soils,..they can grow to 12 ft = 360 cm,..as shown below in my
        garden.

I couldn't find the images in my files so a quick visit to a previous Garden Forum i was in to copy my images there.

Yes, Broom ... I guess the added red threw me a bit. What a beautiful shrub/tree.

I have been out in the sun (quite warm at 17c) weeding pots and took a few photos but probably won't put up till tomorrow. I never go on the computer after 6-6.30.

          Have a lovely weekend.

            Hi Philip,
            how are you,
Just had to let you know ,remember the red Lily you kindly sent me seed? Since arriving it's been in the greenhouse .sown in a gritty compost and put under the staging..had a lovely surprise on this cold freezing day.some green shoots just breaking the surface!!!!!!!
            it's made my day!!!!!.
Who would have thought those seeds would have shown their faces in bitter winter like this?
            But I'm pleased they have.:)

I hope the seed which I forwarded in return has given you good results if not we can always try again.

            Thank you my friend :spinning:

Hedgehogs,..it started with one,..then a second arrived,..they hit it off and then there were four,..most of the images were captured by quietly opening the sliding door and with camera in hand stretching out as far as i could,..the flash didn't disturb them,..sadly some images had to be captured through the glass and there was a flashback.

Ah then it must be one of the Amaryllis,..'Royal Red' i bet,..it will produce a big bulb,..when there is a sign of a bulb uncover part of it so that water doesn't get into the bulb from the top,..then the bigger the bulb gets uncover it about one third above the soil.
