Yeah its one of passionflowers that likes cool conditions.
I think it comes from fairly high altitude.

Good to hear that you have salvaged some of the cuttings.
I think the Plectrathus will prefer a shady spot.

With a temperature of 52f, some patches of blue skies, very little breeze, it was too tempting not to don my mucky gardening clothes and warm Fishing Boots to spend some time out in the garden. But just as I made for the Kitchen Door one of my orders for Ferns arrived, which is good going as I only ordered from e-Bay on Saturday!! This order was for 9 mixed Ferns and they sent a free one as well:hapydancsmil::thumbsup: I have to say I am more than pleased with the quality of the Ferns I'm still waiting for the second order of a further 6 Ferns to arrive later this week.

Four (one of which was free)of the Ferns are Osmunda Japonica, which are deciduous, don't have any foliage as yet but looking at the quality of the others I have no doubt that they will be fine when they come to growth. They were packed extremely well in two boxes with canes in the pots, and the boxes covered in "this way up"labels and at less than half the price of Plant Nursery plants I'm well pleased as it's obvious that they have come from a professional grower.
I had to refill some of the Bird Feeders again as the smaller birds are active now and as soon I I filled the two Seed Feeders on the Lilac the Birds were feeding.

I've still got clearing work to do in some of the borders and one particular area needs the Ivy on the ground to be cleared and put into the Council Waste Bin and not in the Compost Bins and some parts of the borders need more dead plant debris clearing off them despite early clearing

This is a Bamboo from a Chemical site of one of my Clients when it was closing down about 15 years ago. They were clearing the whole site to build Houses on and I asked if I could dig up and take the Bamboo and he readily agreed, although it cost me buying him Lunch at the local Pub:dunno::heehee: I've no idea of the variety of the Bamboo but it's now divided and put into two large pots sitting outside the Observatory and gives a nice patch of greenery.

The pots of Primroses waiting to be planted are starting to flower. I tested my sandy soil borders this morning with a cane and found the first inch or two was friable but under that the ground was still frozen solid. I guess it will at until Wednesday before the soil warms up enough to start planting.

At least the borders are pushing out more and more shoots of different Bulbs and Hardy Perennial growth.

So, plenty of garden jobs to catch up on during the mild weather for this week, but the days are now getting noticeably longer which is nice:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Now that the weather has improved I’ve been back outside working.
This is where years ago I had a greenhouse.
        1DBB68BA-F436-4F9C-AF61-D99C6E028919.jpeg
The slabs are what was the flooring in the greenhouse.
The area to the left of the slabs (not really visible) is where I grow my tomatoes. The area to the right is wasted space and could be better utilised so I’ve done some thing about it.

Chippings removed and the soil dug over, weeds removed.

Bought some decking boards and using my mediocre carpentry have tuned them into this.

And in its final resting place.

Tomorrow I shall line the planter and protect the base of the boards. Then fill it with earth. Now got a useable growing space approx 3m x 1m. Probably uses it this year for extra runner beans and see how it goes. :)

Great job there @Ashleyc It feels so satisfying to get a job like that done.
@Victoria I grew some of those cerinthe last year from seed-they started off fantastic and then I planted cosmos with them which ended up totally swamping them. You've reminded me to have another go at them this year.

They look lovely ferns @ARMANDII Which ebay seller did you buy them from?

            @Snorky85
I had to go back and check:dunno::heehee: The e-bay seller user name was "mzwets" but it doesn't say the name of the grower which, I'm sure, is a professional grower. Would I recommend them?, on the basis of the quality of the plants, the price, and the packing.........yes.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

I think some of my new ones are dodgy looking too, but I will wait a few days before cutting them back , it may just be the exposed bits that have perished..optimistic I know but :fingers crossed: the root system is OK.

Last years ones are doing OK, some have even got their buds forming....it's just the wee babies that are poorly.

              Sad aren't they...

Could show you more ...sadly, but won't.

              Last years....looking better.:)

Even some tiny buds on the one above.
I think I will take some cuttings from some of last years ones.

Been at work today looking out the window at a glorious day. Came home grabbed a cuppa and off down the shed for some seed sowing. Sown Penstemon Scarlet Queen, Shansta Daisey, Turnip Snowball and Purple Milan Top and Kohlrabi. Pricked out Spinach I had sown a couple of weeks ago.
                Very satisfying.

Its not been to bad of a day . Popped round to my mum and sorted some steps out , pointing tomorrow .

Back home and had a look round the garden seen as the snow melted , got my secateurs out and set into some clematis and other various perennials that I hadn't cut back yet . Attacked the honeysuckle that ventured up the apple tree and pruned some small bits of the apple tree as well , I'll do some more pruning on the apple tree tomorrow while I am pruning the wisteria and get the hedge trimmer out for the rest of the honeysuckle. Got one of the lawnmowers out and shredded the last cutting of the season for the compost bin, think I'll try and turn one tomorrow .

It felt somewhat like spring today birds chirping away, fairly mild being out in the garden which has seemed for to long ago and a bit of hope the year going to get better :fingers crossed:

Mine are worse than that, all the ones that have been planted have been affected, got some that i hadn't planted out because they were too small, they're alright.

I was with @rustyroots in spirit as I also pruned the apple tree! Huge pile of branches and twigs followed by bonfire :) Bit achey this morning!

@ARMANDII thanks for the ebay info. A good find there! They also combine postage to reduce cost which is good. Might be making some purchases later
