Assume you are going to have a path along that straight edge though nothing to stop you putting a slight curve on the pond edge, though the pond plants should soften the edge anyway.

Also asume those markings are for planting shelves ? but you will find its almost impossible to make individual ones and fit a liner around them , the way to do it is make a shelf all the way around the pond, then you can move the plants around as you please.

That ground looks like it may be hard , though think you might not be able to swing a full size pick axe to loosen that soil, but one of these hand size Mattocks will make it an easier if a bit slower way.

I've got no real idea how big this is, but it looks pretty small so having it any real depth, without totally vertical sides would be difficult.

I'm not thinking of a shelf all round as then there wont be much in the middle.

Think if it is pretty small I'd go for a sloping beach effect at the front and full depth at the back.
Whatever that might turn out to be.

Is it proper spray for marking the ground, if not and you are using it upside down it wont work.

Just make sure you think out the sides properly because too many end up with the liner visible all around and it can look :poo:

              .:blue thumb:.

Many thanks for your reply. This pond is a bit smaller than the original that was there which was 6 x 4 foot. This pond is 4 f x 56 inch. And 20 inch away from the shed.
I was thinking of shelf all the way around the pond. And why I ask so many questions about shelfs so I was thinking of 4 to 5 inch shelf across before I go down to next level. And I was looking at at least 2 escape routes for critters if they fell in. When I started to dig this out there seems to be quite a bit of what looks like sand in the soil
With regards to the liner I am not sure what it would look like down the edge by the shed as it has to be clear for maintenance. With regards to ponds this is why I ask so many questions as it's my first d I y pond.
Unfortunately me being disabled as well again I was up hospital yesterday and I got pneumonia again so I am not sure how or what to do about our dream of a wildlife pond
                Thanks

Wait until you’re recovered from the pneumonia then take it slow in the digging. Easier to scrape a bit out then assess the shape and just go slowly. As it’s small I’d go for a single escape route and make that the shallow slope

many thanks for your reply , i do have a history of chest infections for over 20 yrs , but with the pond the markings show the full size of the pond , not really sure what i am doing or how to sort this out as we used to have a raised pond but had issues . but would like a wildlife pond with small fish if possible ..

There are some really good YouTube videos on wildlife ponds. You could watch these whilst recovering, which should give you a better/clearer idea.

Many thanks for your help and advice. Unfortunately at the moment I might re fill the hole in and put fake grass back over.
All though it was reported by hospital that I have got pneumonia again the report according to Dr Surgery is saying about soft tissue density on my lunges having looked this up it does say about tumors / cancer.
I hope it's not as I am a main carer for my wife as well.
So as you realise I got other things on my mind at the moment
Thank you again for your help

Just about any illness you look up on the web these days mentions cancer and the like, so many types of illnesses can result in cancer, what they do not say, is only a very small proportion of folk who suffer such an illness have cancer.

It sounds like you have phoned the surgery and someone has just read you a copy of the hospitals report with no qualified discussion about it?

Surely if the hospital doctors suspected cancer they would or have already ordered various tests to see if that was the case and that should have been detailed in that report.

What you need to do is get a phone appointment with your GP to discuss that report and any implications it may have.

Whatever you do, do not sit there searching the web for answers and making yourself even more distressed, contact the GP ASAP !

Mr W.had the Dr. phone call of bad news and it was early days but Dr said yes Cancer like he is saying you have a cold, typical Dr. though... .Yes he had a type of Cancer that was contained within a Polp of the bowel.....very common I haste to mention.. Men especially should demand a check up yearly after the age of 50..Laser treatment and a cure as it turns out for Mr.W..Awareness is important....very important..saves lives...

Many thanks for your advice. Unfortunately I did talk to a Dr from the surgery who said the report from radiioligust said about soft tissue density on the lung. I am now waiting for my Dr to come back from hoilday to see what happens next
                          Thanks

Hmmm.. though holidays had been banned during lockdown ??

If you spoke to a GP to get the report then surely they are as well qualified to answer your questions.
Best if you ring them back and ask direct if that diagnoisis means something more sinister like cancer, they will surely understand your concerns, they cannot withhold things from you these days and it should settle your mind.

Similarly if it was something more concering, then surely the hospital would continue with tests etc on you , they would not pass you back to the GP for such treatment without a clear diagnosis and treatment plan.
