It's been lovely here today. Spent most of it at the allotment but once home I potted up 2 Lavatera clementii 'Barnsley' that I got from the half dead isle a few weeks ago and put them in the sun. Theres new little leaves emerging so fingers crossed. Pleased to see another rescue with buds a Hibiscus syriacus 'Diana' I wasn't holding out much hope for this one so I'm pleased.

Checked in the greenhouse and a couple of the sweet peas have germinated (first time growing them) also I found 1 crispy seed pod on the Cytisus Goldfinch with 3 seeds in it so I've stuck them in some compost see what happens. You never know :noidea: Growing quite a few new plants this year so a lot of hoping :love30:

Fought off the urge to have forty winks after an early lunch. Got into the garden and continude potting up my bulbs. Body temperature rose and and I began to itch, due to hives. This problem arose back in 2014 when I developed the cancer. Took an Urtica urens remedy and soon the itching faded. Decided to check the greenhouse. Auto roof vent was open, thankfully. That auto vent control, is worth it's weight in gold. Checked the thermometer. I don't beleive it. 84F. The GH runs East to West, so it gets full sun from the South.

Everything was looking good. The bearded Iris that my forum friend had kindly given me, these are make good progress. I have several pots of various Iris, but they look like blades of grass at present. Then a couple of pots of what I hadn'nt labelled. Ah! these are bulbils taken from Lilium Casa Blanca. Turning to the tub of the latter, the whole surface of the compost is full of well established new shoots. I still have so many Polyanthus that I never got around to planting out. Some lovely colours. So giving everything a good soak, that's enough for today.

Things seem to be growing well in the garden now but the weeds are outstripping everything else. I've been, slowly, weeding my way through some of the beds in the front garden. They seem to have smothered a lot of my plants and lots of Pulmonaria seem to have gone missing .

Removed a run of old rotting posts and plastic trellis that ran through one bed. Actually got Lewis to do that as he comes in to do the heavy work for me :noidea:. I've been pressure washing the patio in stages and should finish it by Christmas  :heehee:

I found a small split in the rabbit fence at the back. It was all repaired last year when a 70ft poplar took 60ft of the fence down and broke all the angle iron posts. They obviously didn't quite get it right and are coming in next month to fix it. It has taken the rabbits nearly a year to find the narrow split and I have discovered that they are burrowing under the shed. :hate-shocked: The paving that the shed is set on is surrounded by 3" thick boarding but that is rotting after 15+ years and their burrowing is beginning to have an effect on the paving. Fortunately I have spotted it in time and have botched up a temporary wire and wood protection in that area but they have been digging around the shed trying to find another weak spot. So I now have someone coming in to cement 12" gravel boards around the whole paved base. He's ordering something around 60ft of it.

My greenhouse propagator needs rebuilding/replacing and then rewiring. That don't make things the way they used to! :old: It has only lasted 45 years  :roflol: I've just remembered :ideaIPB: I was the one that built it . I've drawn up the plans for the new one but shall have to get someone to build it for me this time. Just removing the quarter ton of sand and gravel from inside it is too much for me nowadays and climbing under the bench to get to the powerboard is an impossibility. :dunno:

        The joys of gardening!!!

On the up side :) I've had a phone call from my bean supplier that he is sending me, next week, my supply of 700+ bean seeds :hapydancsmil:

Lovely sunshine with a bitter cold wind, so I sowed my Tomatoes to go in the indoor Growhouse.
I probably sowed too many like every year.

Watched the Capt. Tom funeral on TV, very moving.

Did a morning 15 miles bike ride and come back to start on the garden. It is a glorious day!
Cleaned out half the greenhouse and put the new shelving in. Dave is welding the metal to make the rose arch. He's doing a good job. I think he is enjoying using his new welder.

After my first proper walk for nearly a year, about 3 miles or so, I carried on with the weeding. :phew:

I got an update on fixing the shed surround from Ben. He has decided not to bury gravel board around it but to shutter around it and pour concrete. His quote has now reduced by over 50%. :blue thumb:

Just going back out to do some more work. :)

Another beautiful day here. Got the lawn mowed, weeded the borders then sown some chillies and Rudbeckia. Checked the onion sets. They are coming on nicely. Got the solar lights out of the shed and put them back up in the back garden.

Dug out some raspberries that had died and dug up a blackberry cane and put it in another place. Where I dug them up I weeded it then planted 4 blackcurrants there.

Potted up various cuttings that I took last year, .
All the geranium cuttings are looking good, I have now doubled my stock. One in particular has lovely leaves ( hopeless with names)

The Hydrangea cuttings are doing the same too. IMG_20210227_154804.jpg
Choisya cuttings ,again from my parent garden, have all taken well too. IMG_20210221_161016.jpg

I was in and out of the garden having to do other jobs as well as gardening today. A couple of years ago I bought a lot of Alliums and there were quite a few Bulblets on them, so I potted them up, allowed them to grow on during the last year. Today I took about a dozen or so of resulting plants in their pots and planted them into groups of 3 or 5 around the borders and, hopefully, they will flower along with the ones planted two years.
Also, I started to place pots of Hardy Perennials of 3 into spots in the borders where I think they will be okay as the borders really get going. The trouble is that I have to try to imagine what kind of height and width the other plants, already planted, will have grown to so that the newly planted Hardy Perennials won't be swamped........and we all know that things never really go to plan in the garden:dunno::heehee::doh:

This morning I helped hubs get rid of the unsightly tree, just need to lower the stump now ( hubs wants to remove it:nonofinger:) as I want to stand a big pot on it.

I then left him to chop it all all while I continued with my border tidying up.

I finished weeding all the vegetable beds yesterday so today it was down to the ex-strawberry bed. I've had strawberries there for last 3 years and they never did very well (? why - sunny, good soil) When I first moved in, I just put sweet peas in this patch to fill up an empty space.....they flourished big time, I was distributing bunches of flowers all round. Since then I have not done very well with sweet peas. So.....strawberries don't like this bed and sweet peas do - this years planting is obvious. Started off sweet peas last week.
