Greetings everyone. Newbie to the world of gardening as I have always lived in apartments. Anyhow moved into our first house (new build) a couple of years ago with a small garden, developers had done a nice job alas a fast of furious one so hoping to replace a few plants and make it look nicer and learn how to look after everything. My first big project is the lawn so will create a new thread in the appropriate section.

      Welcome to the forums.
Don't hesitate if you have questions and just go for it.

PS: I think the real work isn't in the lawn. It's what you try to keep alive around it

I have a mixture of wild native plants such as alder, azel, holly, dogwood etc along the south & east fence which we have to keep for another 2 years as it was a condition attached to the development. On the north side I have a small split border, each section is about 5 x 1m and so far the plants are doing well but need to chop and change a bit.

Could well be clay, I don't think I can tell the difference.
