Peach tree curl.

    My poor effort to try and prevent Peach tree curl.
    Well I had to try something.

      Herewith a popular French peasant tip.....hang old, unwashed empty eggshells contained in a string bag (like those potatoes come in) in the tree. It does work for some folks, not others :)

        Presumably because of the very dry spring we had last year I found it wasn't as much of a problem as normal.
        Is that going to stop pollinators reaching the flowers @roders

        Good point Pete but they can see through the polythene :biggrin:
        And they can still get in.........it will proberbly blow away eventually anyway.:spinning:

          When the flowers open, spray them lightly with water at midday on sunny days, it will distribute the pollen.

          Peach leaf curl is caused by a fungus the spores of which overwinter on leaves on the ground before being spread by rain drops splashing the spores on to the unfurling foliage.
          This is one reason you see them grown against a wall with a cover that can be dropped down to keep the splash off, also helps protect flowers from late frosts.
          Picking up as much fallen foliage as possible helps and spraying with Bordeaux mixture at leaf drop, end of January and then again in mid February. Not sure if there is a modern replacement for Bordeaux mixture.

            You can still buy copper spray I believe.
