I don't remember ever seeing a cuckoo Strongy but heard them when I was youngster living around farmland. I hadn't heard any others until I moved here and now hear them every Spring.

For years we've had cuckoos in the wooded area by the field opposite and hear them all the time but I've never seen one.

This morning we had our first Mistle thrush, this year, on the lawn.

Haven't seen any Pied Wagtails by the village pond in ages, there's been more in Tesco's car park, but a pair turned up a couple of days ago.

Still more Mallards in Tesco's car park than on our village pond

There’s something comical about ducks that appeals to me, have never seen one in a car park before...wonder why they go there, do people feed them?

I know I may be getting old but I think I still look as though I'm alive :old:. I got dive bombed by a red kite yesterday :yikes: and he came close enough for the wind from his wings to move my hair! I checked to see whether they may have a nest in one of our trees but couldn't see one. :noidea:

Both the female and male Ospreys have returned to Bassenthwaite. My mate took a picture of one of them on the nesting platform on Thursday, picture attached.

Seen this poor old magpie a few times.
Not sure if its disease or some kind of damage.
I seems to fly around alright.

Nice capture, I know at least one is here somewhere in the UK, and a couple of Green Winged as well, both rarities here.

I don't see them very often as they are elusive, but this little group of five let me approach fairly close. This photo better shows the blue on the wings. As you can see, he seems to be looking at me with some concern.

Egyptian geese with a tiny Little Ringed Plover to the right, summer migrant from Africa.

Egyptian geese were introduced 300 years ago as ornamental fowl for lakes in stately homes It has taken them 250 years to start establishing themselves outside Norfolk (due to our alien cold climate) but can be seen anywhere in the southern part of the country with just a few in the Midlands.
