That is a generous gesture from Eddy's family, thank you so much and I do hope a local member will pick them up for an everlasting memory of a wonderful man, he was passionate about bearded irises.

My Clematis armandii is the best it has ever been this year and I will treasure seeing it burst into flower at this time in future years as a reminder of Eddy, who had a very apt name for an ardent plantsman:

I am very Shocked and Saddened by the news, I've sadly never met Armandii but would of loved to of done, he come across as absolute star incredibly kind knowledgeable and a good laugh with his jokes. I'll miss his ambles around his beautiful garden and the blame games of buying yet more plants. I've been meaning to send him a Pm for a few days I'd noticed he wasn't posting as much, I haven't been on the forum for a few days so it saddens me even more I didn't get the last chance to reach out and have a quick chat.

He will be greatly missed . My deepest condolences to Eddy Family and Friends.

      Rest in Peace Armandii

How very sad. I used to see his name pop up often and as a relative newbie I realised he was a popular and respected member. I had no idea he was ill. RIP in that great garden in the sky Eddy.

              Such sad news.

I really admired Eddy, he kept himself to himself but had time for others and their issues.

              He will be missed greatly:sad:

Not to detract in any way from this announcement thread folks, but we though it a good idea to have something maybe a bit less formal where we could share memories etc of Eddy - Raising a glass to our Armandii

:cry3::cry3::cry3::cry3::cry3:, what truly shocking news. I wasn't expecting this and had no idea that he was so ill. His posts about his jobs in the garden and his two cats gave no indication. I am deeply saddened. I never met him but he did seem a very kind man and an animal lover. He was very helpful to me on a number of occasions, especially regarding pond advice.

I was so shocked to read this today ,Im so upset I had so much legal advice from Eddy I really felt that I had met this likeable fella and knew him as a friend.

He was their for everybody with his experience and advice sadly he has left us a great space that cannot be filled , cannot be filled or replaced and never forgotten , wouldn't want it to be either.

,though a very very sad one it is a consolation we can refer back to his pages , his great sense of humour ,photos and advice.

He was So kind to send me some of his much loved iris and wouldn't allow me to pay postage., these will be lovingly looked after .I was looking forward to sending him photos of these as they flowered.I will remember him with fondness and happiness through his Iris.

So sad he could not enjoy his statue in his garden I recall how he asked us for suggestions,
but hopefully he can look down from the great garden up above and still be part of what he created and enjoyed with us all.

Rest in Peace our dear friend.
My condolences to his family and friends, Take care and please stay safe.

When you know a person is in poor health you sort of expect to hear the worst and isn't so much of a shock ,still bad and upsetting but to have this way is Just shock news that no one expects.
it's losing a friend you have never met and it that which seems lots worse , know what I mean?
