Had a break from gardening and planting today and went to see what I could find in a garden reclamation site.Loads! Couldn’t buy them all though, so one large pale blue pottery pot and an aged stone urn on a plinth.I shall plant pelargoniums in both of them next month.

Yesterday was a planting day in our new rockery, alpine pinks, aubretia and helianthus, phlox and a small conifer and a few small spireas.Still need to buy some vinca minor.

It's lawnmowing today. All day. I have 4 small-ish lawns and a very, very sizeable one. The 4 small are now finished (not edged...that will be another day.) Having a lunch break now. Then it will be 1/2 the big one then coffee and cake break. When it is all done and cleared away - there is a tub of salted caramel and white chocolate ice cream......which will be so well deserved.

The weather is just taunting me now... I'm having to water the plants that sit in the greenhouse twice a day because it's so hot and sunny... yet it's still only 3 degrees overnight!

Lettuce planted out last week has found its roots and is coming along so well. Very excited for my first garden salad of the year.

Tomorrow we will commence building the pumpkin patch. Got several litres of manure and compost ready and all the wood is cut just need to screw it in.

Also planning to purchase drip irrigation for the garden now that we will actually be going away this summer (staying in the UK but will be gone for 6 days). Should've bought it last year when I wanted it and I would've got two summers out of it before packing it up to move... wish I'd just done it now! Anyone use Gardena Micro Drip irrigation and have any pointers?

Today I planted a pomegranate, composed some compost (well draining I hope), sowed some stocks and watered whatever wanting wetting. After that I ran out of alliterations so I went inside for a cup of coffee and a buscuit.

Not much just deadheaded some of the hyacinths and did some watering.
But I'm already planning on buying next autumn tulip bulbs.

Low of 2.5c in the greenhouse overnight last night. Grr. Really was hoping the other day at 6c was going to be the start of the climb but appears not. Have read about using two terracotta pots to make a budget heater with a tealight, so am going to test run tonight. Bit scary having fire in the greenhouse but it'll be encased in two terracotta pots and I'll place it on the paving slab I have in there and see if it gives off enough heat to bring the temperature up enough.

Potatoes are growing like crazy, though only two of the three seed pots planted per bag have shot up above ground. Hoping the third in each bag shows its face soon so I can earth up again because I don't want the ones that are coming along stronger to get too leggy.

Meant to be building the pumpkin patch today but not feeling it! Just can't be bothered with all the digging. Maybe next weekend. Pumpkins won't be going out for a long time anyway.

Someone came by to buy another £30 of plants this morning. I think this year I've probably made about £150 selling seedlings. Will makes me feel less bad about buying the £50 greenhouse tunnel!

He had a fairly significant mouth infection, a result of his failing kidneys. It's been treated but I cannot in all honesty say that he is a well cat.
