    Found my first lily beetle today

      By the look of those two on the bottom pic you'll be finding many more in the not too distant future.
      The last 4 years I've been fighting Lily beetles so this year I'm not growing them,they absolutely decimated my lillies so enough is enough.:old:

        Ive found 3 up to now,defo more hiding :th scifD36: they come in pairs im sure :)x

            Its not the beetles that do the big damage, its the grubs.

              No Pete, the beetles also. When you squish them, they turn your fingers orange. I like wotsits, muscle memory kicks in. They don't taste like wotsits:yikes:

                Is it the grubs that leave the piles of muck near the stems?

                The grubs cover themselves in their own excrement and hide under the leaves, munching away.

                      Occasionally I rub them off, wearing gloves of course. Mainly I use a hosepipe spray gun and blast them off from underneath, I'm not sure if they climb but somehow they appear back again in a few days. The adults I squish if I can catch them, they are pretty good at falling off and playing dead if you're not fast enough.
