I will probably have to get rid of some of my older perennial Wallflowers this year as they only look good for a few years , I have sowed 3 more trays today.

Just more of the same on this summer's day. Carried on edging the lawns/flower beds, weeding etc. whilst Mrs Shiney carried on sowing, potting on and potting up. We got some more chillies, tomatoes (already in flower), beans, squash, salvias, cosmos and zinnias ordered from us. All extra funds for the charity :blue thumb:

Entertained! Had Mrs L's grandma over as, in her late 90s, she doesn't get about much.
Also managed to plant out a few things, potted on chilli's and potted up some poppy plants the have popped up.
I also realised there is a staggering amount of weeding to do!

All my courgettes are out in the bed! I thought I'd kept 5, I actually have 6. Oops. All in the tunnel which hasn't dropped below 10 the last two days so fingers crossed that continues. Also completed the sprinkler system so they all get a good ground watering. Loads of male flowers appearing so will see how they settle in and await some lady flowers.

Relocated a Senetti I bought from Morrisons. I'd planted it in a wall planter on the side of my house not realising quite how fabulous the flowers would be, and it was higher than my eye level so I couldn't enjoy them properly. Now in a pot on the deck and looking beautiful.

Tomato plants are now living in the cold frame overnight after going in-out every day and night for the last month. I'm awaiting halos and frames which are supposedly arriving soon but I might have to cancel my order and get them elsewhere as I've been waiting 2 weeks and am now getting no response to my email asking when they'll dispatch.

All our plants are now in the 3 cold frames and the unheated greenhouse without any additional coverings ,( fleece or bubble wrap).

Tried to do some more pricking out in the greenhouse but it was too warm in there, can't open the vent or door as the wind is too strong again and everything rattles quite violently when I try.
Will attempt to do some this afternoon as hopefully the winds will have died down by then.
Did some wedding as this lovely rain has put everything into high grow mode !! :)

Company I ordered from aren't getting any more stock of the item I need for 2 weeks. Ugh. So I might go to the garden centre and buy there even if it will end up costing me more. At least it means I could get my tomatoes in today!

Just moving plants around to harden them off. I have 8 lupins in the greenhouse so put them outside on the patio. In their place I put 8 verbena bonerenses.
The wallflowers are starting to come up, I have to keep them out of the sun because they won't germinate with hot temperatures.

Been helping in my mums garden today shovelling 3/4's of a builders sack of stones.

Planting stuff out like crazy, now the soil's damp and showers forecast for the rest of the week. 80 cells of Papaver rhoeas, 80 Cosmos and trays of carnations and heliotrope. Then tackled the prostrate rosemaries making a bid for world domination. Then pottered about weeding and generally revelling in the iris, roses, clematis and peonies. May is the most beautiful month of the year, here :-)

Put all the plants out to start hardening off. 30 minutes later it absolutely bucketed down. Ran down the garden to move them in to GH. 1 hour later put them back out. 30 minutes later back down as the rain was bouncing again. Took them back then had thunder, lightning and a hail storm. I have a double fracture in my toes and walking is proving difficult, hobbling down the garden to move plants proved a tad uncomfortable, so I decided to let the battle of the fittest decide what gets planted and leave them to it. Sowed all my sunflowers this afternoon in the shed.

A couple of days ago I emptied 3/4 of spent compost from a large, plastic, whiskey barrel pot and replaced with fresh soil/ compost mix before replanting my Patio Rose and a few thinned out Daff bulbs. The 2 self seeded Toadflax were relocated to other planting areas. Removed weeds and grass from cracks in block paving on that part of the pathway. Dug out 1/4 ton of creeping buttercup from gravelled area by Willow Tree and the border in back garden - felt like 1/4 ton :heehee:. Still more to remove.

We've had a bit of a garden drama with sad ending. We have wild bunnies in the garden and the doe dug a nest under the Willow Tree. On Friday I saw her go into it 7 times and take fur with her that she pulled from her body. I think this is when she had the babies. In the early hours of Saturday morning and up until early afternoon we had heavy rain. She came at 7.30 am but was unable to move the mud on top of the nest. She sat under the stone bench for awhile before leaving. By the time it stopped raining there was a pool of water On top of the nest chamber , so it must have flooded :cry3:On Sunday she came back with her 2 older babies and Dad bun. The nest was opened and all 4 of them visited one by one. Afterwards she resealed the chamber and it has remained sealed. The only explanation I have for them all to go into the nest was to say goodbye to the babies who died :cry3:.

Thought a small job would be simple, forgetting both this gardens nature and sods law!
Just wanted to move a fern. Fern was ancient so masses of roots plus loads of hardware underneath so can't get through it, and it's tucked away in a corner so hard to get at too.
After some choice words and being attacked by bugs, frogs and mice... I have managed to get it out and cut into 8 good sized ferns! Way too much effort though lol

Sowed some more wallflower seeds in toilet roll tubes. Can't do much else because of the weather. Covered them with vermiculite to help them come through easier.
