    This years plants well underway.
For standard cordon tomatoes grew the following …
    Shirley … great GP Tom
Rosado … to try an older variety
Alicante … as I had the seeds
    Roma … for sauces.

Shirley has always been my standard … always heavy cropping, usually have to tie up trusses or they snap under weight of the fruit.

For next year looking for recommendations for some varieties …to try as well ….
I want flavour …. Intense bursting with flavour.
Of course want something disease resistant … no point being difficult to grow.

I grow in Quadgrows in unheated greenhouse, in South of the country.

Be good to get a ‘top 3’ for taste.

@Sargan there have been tomato taste tests for the past several years, you can search back:

    Tomato taste test 2020

Shirley is a good cropper but there are others that rate higher for taste, but of course it's all subjective.

Interesting Gardeners delights comes highest & lowest :-)
I only moved to Shirley after advice here …about 6 years or so ago …. been happy with them ….. but happy to try something just for taste.

I grew gardeners delight prior to Shirley and found them abundant but bland.

Indeed, any seed packets after 2012 from commercial suppliers are bland and bigger that a cherry tomato, hence why the RHS withdrew their AGM recommendation. There was a thread on here a few years back where members grew GD from old packets and the strain from 2005 has proven to be the best tasting with a good yield.

For a Cherry tomato then Gardeners Delight may be the choice.
What about standard sized tomato …. I have been sticking to Shirley after previous advice here.
What would be a real good tasty standard cordon Tom.?
        I have previously grown
        Alicante
        Blue Suede
        Roma
        Ruby F1
        Moneymaker

I would prefer to wait till the end of this year's growing season before answering, I have a couple of new varieties. I will kick off a Tomato Taste thread in September and get other's opinions too.

Any Home-Grown Tomatoes, I won't buy the supermarket ones that are full of water.

Ive got one sweet aperitif plant, never grown it before, and its looking quite leggy and a bit scrawny.
Think it probably just grows like that.

I gave up on Gardeners Delight four years ago. The two staples now are Sungold and Supersweet 100. Supersweet 100 is even earlier than Sungold and as the name suggests is a very heavy cropper. Like Sungold it is prone to splitting. Sungold does just shade it for taste.
