Thanks-feeling slightly better this morning but dont want to jinx it.

You've just reminded me lori-I've got to sort out my greenhouse watering system. Set to be a scorcher this weekend so will be useful.

nothing really planned for today or weekend in terms of garden; i'll just potter what I can and do what jumps out at me. One thing I need to do is prune some very overgrown rhody's now that flowering is almost done

Sounds like you have a healthy and diverse butterfly population in your garden! :blue thumb: I envy you having Common Blues visit, I only have Holly Blues visiting and they typically fly so high that I miss spotting them a lot of the time! I've found taking photos extremely useful when it comes to butterfly monitoring, I just dump all my photos from that year into a folder at the end of it. That way I know what has visited as well as what plants they were drawn to. :)

Feeling a bit better so wandered to lotty and planted out a couple of tom plants, swedes and sown some more spring onions. Also used netting to keep chickens out of my mini polytunnel.

Had some of Mrs Shiney's homemade soup recipe and that's perked me up-but now I'm roasting hot lol.

Will go put that shading in the greenhouse

Weeding Selleri style  i.e. ambling around lawns looking for Buttercups that have grown tall enough for a vase, and anything to go with them.

              Buttercups and mint:

As for the potting shed - there were a few fixings left over:

Went to the garden to relax after work and found that a fox dug out my cucamelons and courgettes.. presumably attracted by blood fish and bones.

I will try and fix it but I do not quite know how to dissuade then from further digging tonight

Aww a beautiful picture @Snorky85 :imphrt: I'm glad to hear you are feeling better.
Weeded and watered again today. We are quite exposed at the front of the house so the soil is like dust. Sown some sweetcorn for myself and the chap at the plot next to me. Sown cucumber seeds as well for the umpteenth time :wallbanging:. Discovered more aphids so they got a blast from the hosepipe and evicted a few lily beetles. :paladin:

That's a very cute doggie you have there, I bet he is very good at asking for forgiveness :)

Thing is, it was quite unexpected because all my other pots have some BFB mixed in. I just top them up with a palm or so of fresh soil and that seems to hide the smell well enough.
But yesterday evening I was a bit in a hurry to plant those out, so probably I did not put enough soil on top.
Normally the only ones digging are the squirrels, but leaving some random objects on the soil seems to deter them.

I managed to retrieve two of the cucamelon, the rest were torn apart, and put them in again along with my last spare one. Moved the pot to a spot which is harder to reach, or so I hope.
The courgettes were not too damaged though.
They were in a ring I fashioned out of cardboard and plastic, the fox tore the ring apart with its teeth and then realized there was nothing to dig for and let it alone, I guess.

So I fixed that, surrounded it all with stuff and covered it with netting..
For good measure, I smeared the plastic with Tiger Balm, which is the nuclear equivalent of vicks vaporub..
I never licked the thing myself but, if foxy decides to tear it all apart again, I guess it will enjoy very unobstructed respiration for a few weeks..
