    No problem.

Checked the plants this morning before I went to work. And the PF has some buds close to opening (it seems). Hopefully it was just getting used to my conditions

On the extremely hot sunny days I tend to keep my chillies shaded. Some are under a bench but others are kept in a large 5ftx3ft propagator with the plastic cover over the top but open at the sides. It is not solid clear plastic but old sheet plastic that is opaque from age (a bit like me :heehee:) I have a 3ft high wooden frame in there to drape the plastic over. I then let the sides down at night to keep them warmer. :)

So I got some plants from the same supplier as @Logan
One each of Trinidad Scorpion, Armageddon and Carolina Reaper.
And another 3 milder varieties (can't think of the names offhand)

Was a bit disappointed with the size. They were quite small, and bearing in mind we are approaching the end of June, I not sure there is still time for a decent crop.
But hopefully they will get going quickly in the greenhouse.

I have about 5 different plants flowering now

Have noticed that some of my recent acquisitions, which I repotted into bigger pots when I got them, are now putting a lot of growth on instead of flowering.
Was the compost I used too rich ?????

I can't remember ever pricking off the growing shoot on chillis before - but this year's lot are almost 50cm tall and not very bushy. Should I now lop them off please?

I prefer to get the plants bigger before flowering too much, I think you will get more chillies in the long run. You can switch to a tomato feed to encourage flowers if you think yours are big enough.

What variety are you growing? Some are naturally taller.

In that case go with your instinct and nip out top to make it bushy.

@JJ28 over the years my plants seem to be shorter and bushy compared to when I started and had a greenhouse full of leaves and some chillies. I think because I don't fuss over them and feed them too much any more is the reason for this. No matter their plant size, the chillies were apparently always as hot/spicy as expected.

This cold, damp spell seems to have slowed things down.

But will hopefully get warmer and sunnier from tomorrow.

Couldn't agree more , @Sirius. I've had most of my plants basically risking it outside and other than getting pretty bedraggled in the rain I've also had some flowers just drop as I think the night temps were too cold to reliably set fruit. So i'm glad i kept a couple indoors-- they might be in too-little-pots but at least they are warmer!

Did your prairie fire ever flower properly/produce fruit?
